oi you think this one your grandfather’s road ar?!

Yess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Suanie's grandfather and his road
Wa ah gong di e ei lo

I didn’t know about it until I read my aunt’s blog where she posted about it. Since I was back in Batu Pahat last weekend, I thought I’d check it out (since I memang wanted to visit my grandparents anyway), and managed to drag persuade my grandpa to go along with me and pose for a picture.

Initially he was a tad reluctant, maybe shy or what, but later was quite enthusiastic, directing me to go from the other side (from where the road sign is located) so I could drive through the entire road. It’s quite a main road; definitely more than 20 houses dotting the sides.

Suanie's grandfather's road
The whole stretch!

FYI, Sri Gading is a pekan just 13 km from Batu Pahat town. I spent a lot of my growing up years there. It is now undergoing massive development; new housing areas and industries mushrooming here and there. Oh well, at least the roads are wider, etc.

As for why my grandfather has a road named after him, well he’s somewhat of a local personality lah. He’s got stories from the Japanese occupation, communist and stuff; maybe one day I’ll properly document it. He’s a MCA guy through and through (with all due respect and this just being my opinion, that was back when MCA had balls) so maybe that’s why he received such an honour lor.

Honour? But of course! Isn’t this the coolest thing ever? 😉
