smirnoff launches 2 new flavours… let’s partyyyyy!!!

A couple days ago, we were at The Sanctuary at The Curve to celebrate Smirnoff’s launch of two new flavours — green apple and vanilla. It was happening, it was FUN, here are some photos and bits and bobs.

Green apple, vanilla, green apple, vanilla and green apple Smirnoff…

(There will be regurgitated photos because… well only a few people I know were there mah…)

I reached The Sanctuary about 8.20 pm, and there was a line of invited guests waiting to go in. Then one of the organisers saw me, and I was whisked to the Media/Bloggers registration counter. Heheh, what perks ;)

I went straight to the table where Kelvin was already seated. He was accompanied with a guy who won the contest by Coconuts. Sorry can’t remember your name dude, but he was friendly and nice, a bit quiet because apparently this was his first time going to ’something like this’. Har, no clubbing before? Not really.. heh good luck in Netherlands dude!

Later ShaolinTiger arrived, and JoeyG took the stage and said some stuff, then there was really good music spinning…

We had different cocktails mixed with Smirnoff vodka!

After a while, we were whisked into the Ice Bar (where the temperature was -15 degree celcius but no wind, thank goodness) to sample the different Smirnoff flavours…

It was cold….

Hot Kim (better known as kimfluttersby) was there… I think she looks a bit like Uma Thurman…

Kim wore the same colour as the bottle…

Kim is also one of the contestants of StarCeleb, a reality TV show on the search for 2 multi-talented individuals ready for stardom and more. StarCeleb will air on NTV7 every Sunday at 6 p.m., beginning this September. Go visit the StarCeleb website to find out how you can be part of the Live Recordings… Go Kim!!!!!

In comparison, here’s me posing with a Smirnoff Green Apple bottle…

My hangover lasted 24 hours. But it was really fun, and I haven’t had this kind of fun for the longest time! I also helped a girl crying in the toilet back to her car, but that’s another story.

Thanks for having me!!!!!!!!!!

Others blogged about it too! :: kimfluttersby, Xes, ShaolinTiger, kinkybluefairy

a bid for the blogathon 2005

Dear all,

As you may or may not know, I will be joining 5 other bloggers to participate in the upcoming Blogathon. Come 6th August, Peter Tan, ShaolinTiger, KennySia, Minishorts, Paul Tan and myself will be collaboratively blogging at BloggersAreMorons.com. It is a straight 24-hour blogathon, which means we will blog a 4-hour set each, with a minimum of a post every half an hour.

For our charity, we have chosen the Penang branch of the Hospice-at-Home Programme (HHP). The HHP is under the National Cancer Society and I quote from the HHP site.

“This is a support service provided in the home of the terminally ill cancer patient for whom cure is not a likely prospect. The main focus of this support will be physical; i.e., help and advice on the relief of symptoms, especially pain, and nursing care. In addition, the patient and the family will be given emotional and practical support. When necessary, bereavement support will be provided.”

Peter and Paul have already blogged the reasons for choosing this programme as our charity here and here.

From my understanding, the HHP is one of the first of its kind to be set up in Malaysia. Although it is under the National Cancer Society, financial-wise it is mostly supported by public donations. The hospice team consists of a nurse co-ordinator who is a full-time staff member, and also volunteers consisting of doctors, nurses and social workers who visit the patient at home as and when the need arises. They have been trained prior to undertaking their missions with an understanding of the Hospice philosophy, death and dying and bereavement as well as developing communication and listening skills.

I am young and am very lucky to have my loved ones still around. I have known the pain of losing a close friend, I have good friends who lost their loved ones and it makes me appreciate my own loved ones even more. Having learnt more about the HHP, I know that there are a lot of people who would welcome the HHP’s help and support, medical and emotional wise.

Peter sums it up when he wrote, “No act can be nobler than easing the final journey of the terminally ill cancer patient like what this group of people are doing.”

The Blogathon

This is not a popularity contest. Nevertheless I will be the first to admit that with our combined blog audience, it will be easier to reach more people. However I would like to stress that we are not taking this blogathon half-heartedly. A wider audience only means more effort from us into making this work, attempting to achieve the same goals as others who participate in the Blogathon; hopefully creating awareness and see something good come ouf of it, perhaps more.

This Blogathon is a maiden attempt for all six of us. Edrei who participated in last year’s blogathon has been a big source of help especially with the tweakings on the B.A.M. site. He is also in the Blogathon this year, his chosen charity being the National Cancer Society. Other Malaysian bloggers we know who are participating in this year’s Blogathon are Yvonne Fong for the Eden Handicap Service Center, Ee Yean for the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia and Dustyhawk for UNICEF Malaysia.

As you may know, each of us has our own style of writing. I have a feeling that this collaborative blogathon will be quite interesting to watch. If you feel the same, please support our blogathon effort. A donation be it small or big or help us spread the word.
