tied to the 90s
S and I were reminiscing the 90’s and we discovered that we both went through the same fads albeit in different geographical locations.
Quite a long post ahead with some pix.

I asked for a CD of Fuuyo by Afdlin Shauki some time last week and it arrived yesterday.
I have not seen much of Afdlin Shauki’s works let alone know what he sounds like. Besides the last album by a Malay singer I bought was Siti Nurhaliza’s debut album. Yeah that was a mighty long time ago. And the recent development of Malaysia’s love for reality shows that produce not-so-commendable (in my opinion) singers are… high school efforts at best. Except for Jac, most of them do not reach graduate levels, no matter what POPULAR OPINION says. If you want to know more about the lameness of popular opinion, feel free to watch Malaysian Idol S2. That should give you some idea on why quality SHOULD preceed popularity because the aftermath can be scary.
You know Afdlin Shauki, right?
Not only this local entertainer has a blog, he actually writes pretty decent stuff; now how many bloggers can say that about themselves? (ahem)
Anyway he launched a mini campaign against XXX distributing record company to basically prove to them that they were wrong in their judgment. Such a bold move, Suanie feels should lauded and awarded its well-deserved attention.
Plus the man is mad and if the whole deal tak jadi, he’s going to pretty much end up a pauper. What noble sacrifice for a man’s art, no?
You can read the background story here.
In a nutshell, Afdlin is offering to send you his album Fuuyo for your listening pleasure. The CD retails for RM35 and the cassette RM16.90, but here’s the thing:
If you feel that the album is worth RM35, then you pay him RM35. If you feel that the album is worth RM25, then you pay him RM25. Or RM10. Or RM0.10. It’s up to you, O listeners to judge and the verdict is all yours to make.
If you feel that the album is worth nothing, all Afdlin asks is that you destroy your copy and NOT pass it to someone else.
Tell me, where in Malaysia can you find such good a deal eh? Hehehe..
But since the man is so honest, we shall be honest too, yah? If you are truly interested in listening to Afdlin’s album Fuuyo, then shoot him an e-mail at [selambakodok-at-gmail-dot-com] with the subject “AFDLIN DAH HILANG AKAL!”. Let him know if you want the CD or the cassette.
You can pay him using bank money transfer, money order, T.T. or bank draft to a name and address that would be inserted in the album.
Comprehensive details here, given to you in his own passionate voice.
More power to mad celebrities!!!
