going to bangkok, bali

Not now lah.

Yeah it’s the Air Asia free ticket thingamajig (thanks God for the alert!)

Going to BKK with my family, then many months later going to Bali with Erna.

I told Erna, “I hope we are still friends come October.”

Else it would really suck :P

Oh yeah it’s Visit Malaysia Year. And I have the banner on my side bar (for now).

I will make it a point to go to the elephant sanctuary, and if possible maybe Cameron Highlands.

Would love to go to KK again, stay at the rainforest lodge by the Kinabatangan river, but that costs an arm, a leg and a torso. Next time lah.

Note: Long post with lots of photos.

Last month, I blogged about winning passes to see Ryan Star’s showcase in Malaysia. That I went, but I didn’t mention that I got to attend the Meet ‘n Greet session held the day before too ;)

I left the office a good 45 minutes before the meet started. Normally that would have given me plenty of time to do whatever I had to do to get from PJ to KL. But that afternoon was hell. Don’t really want to talk about it.

Anyway I arrived at the hotel slightly late, so I had to wait (along with a couple other latecomers) to enter the suite. We finally went in, and Ryan Star was sitting there, surrounded by girls, boys, cameras, massive Channel [V] posters and lots of Channel [V] posse.

It was a bit intimidating to see him in real life, but he was real friendly and talked a lot. I just sat there and kept quiet lah, being the mouse that I am :D

The small group of fans were asking him about his Rockstar Supernova experience and when his next album would be coming out and so on. I kept wanting to ask “OMG WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO MARRY ME?!?!” but luckily the angel on the right shoulder was working overtime that noon.

He then performed ‘We Might Fall’, the first song from his album ‘Songs from the Eye of An Elephant‘, and here’s a 1.35 min clip.

Ryan then signed posters, Nadia kept poking me to go get a personalised one etc etc but I told her I didn’t want a signed poster, I want a photo taken with him!

As it turned out, I got my wish. A little shaky perhaps, but I can still remember the feel of his leather jacket on my cheek…

Am I sounding like a groupie yet :D

in search of reese’s peanut butter cups

A few years ago my sister went to the States. When she came back, she got me some Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups which I thought was the greatest thing, EVAR!

Then I found out that such a great thing like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are unfortunately not available in Malaysia.

THE TRAGEDYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh well, I got over it, I mean it’d been more than 6 or more years. Besides I don’t really crave for chocolate… much.

Then KY went and blogged about it, memories returned and I craved for the damn thing for a few days, and finally decided to take matters into my own hands.

I decided to make a trip to Singapore.

After all, it was the Raya holidays, I have one week off, so why not? Singapore has a large expat community, they are jolly good friends with the USA, surely they would stock the best-selling candy in the States in abundance! No-brainer, right?

Well… allow me to save you time, money and effort by telling you that you won’t have such luck at Singapore’s Marketplace (both Paragon and City Hall), Cold Storage (Takashimaya), Vivo Mart and Candy Empire (Vivo City).

I was about to give up in despair when Pinky nudged me to have a quick browse at The Cocoa Trees at Suntec City.

Browse browse browse… and lo and behold!!!

Reese's peanut butter cups at last

Sure, it’s only the miniatures, sure it’s S$6.30 per 85g pack… but when you find something that defines the purpose of life, you shouldn’t be picky at all.

I was of course, ecstatic :D

Even Rich, a non-chocolate lover, loved it :D

Well I am happy, for now. But my happiness will not last very long (when my limited supply runs out :( ) So if any of you would like to donate to keep this blog OWNER running, please consider sending me lots and lots of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, especially if you are in the States. For contact details, please e-mail me :D

first post for the year 2006

HAPPY NEW YEAR, BIATCHES!!!

Truth is, I don’t see what is so happy about the new year. It’s a sad miserable reminder of lost youth and better days gone by… when that happens, how can any new year be a happy occasion?

But that is an unsolved mystery for the eternal pessimist. Since this is Suanie.net’s first post for the year 2006 AND on a new server, let’s be happy and merry and joyful and all that jazz.

So, yeah. Happy New Year to you too. Bleh.

Here are some ‘bloggable’ photos from a pre-New Year eve party we attended. A rather long-ish post ahead with 16 photos all together; you have been warned.
