The Samsung GALAXY Note is here!!
It’s here, it’s here!! The Samsung GALAXY Note is here!!!
Well not in MY pocket yet but that’s only a matter of time
It’s officially launched today, aka available for sale already! Check it out at Pavilion KL (near Esprit) from today till Sunday, there are free goodies for early buyers.
RRP is RM2,299. I just browsed through a couple of mobile providers’ websites in Malaysia, they’re bundling the Samsung GALAXY Note with call/ mobile net plans so you could get the phone for as low as RM1,368.
Anyway check out one of my favourite features on the Samsung GALAXY Note, the S-Planner!
Basically it’s a demo of how easy and intuitive it is to use the stylus with the planner/ calender. Pretty important to me as I still don’t quite like using touch screen keyboards, but that’s how mobile technology is moving forward so I guess I’ll have to adapt… with some help.
Back to the planner: calendar tabs are on the side, sorted out by Year, Month, Week, 3 Days, Day, Agenda and Task to make organising simple and effortless. Here’s what the screen looks like, photo from SlashGear:
Also check out how (much more) awesome Polaris Office is on the Samsung GALAXY note 5.3in screen:
For fun, there’s S-Memo which is like a combination of basic Post-It and Photoshop for…. uh, writing memos
AND doodling, sketching, adding in colours etc. There are the usual gaming stuff which should be pretty awesome on the bigger screen. Also has A-GPS, pretty standard stuff. Camera is 8MP with HD video recording. Demo on YouTube here: http://youtu.be/4_WXm-Ml4fQ.
So, when are you getting yours?
After a lengthy consideration of about 2 seconds, I decided that this would be the blog post for 11.11.11
My mom and my sister kongsi and bought me a 8-piece cookware set. It includes a couple of huge pots, so big that I couldn’t resist doing this:
If you know me, you’d know that I have a big head so can you imagine the monstrosity of this thing..?!?
Then I cleaned the pot and cooked beef stew in it. Then I ate it with croissant. Then I was happy.
Croissant? Who the fuck eats beef stew with croissant? Well I just did and it was delicious. Learned something from Cass: my house, my rules
Also if I’d gotten normal bread then I’d have to spread butter on it then toast. It’s a lot of fucking work. Croissant already has butter! Friggin’ genius, me.
TeaRoom by BelJee, Bangsar
I was invited to check out the TeaRoom by BelJee, a little cafe at Wisma Volkswagen in Bangsar. They serve breakfast, lunch and my favourite meal of the day, tea. Tea time is so great, it should be everyone’s favourite meal!
Never been to Wisma VW before but it isn’t hard to find, quite near to Wisma UOA in Bangsar. Parking shouldn’t be a problem if you’re a bit, uh creative
TeaRoom is on the ground level at one corner, opposite the VW showroom. Small cosy little cafe, decorated in baby blue and white. Lovely place for a delicious cuppa, can feast your eyes on the latest VW models or occasional hot guys

A hot cuppa with yummy biscotti, flower plant and notebook not included
First we had the Shepherd’s Pie (RM7.80). Well seasoned minced beef (or chicken if you like, we had the beef) topped with a proportionate amount of mashed potato crust, served piping hot with a side of creamy potato salad. Very simple and enjoyable – hearty, scrumptious and most satisfying!
We also sampled the Baked Pasta and Moussaka (RM7.80). The former had chicken if I remember correctly, it was a little dry when we had it that day. The moussaka was interesting: minced chicken and eggplant in a tomato ‘n herb sauce topped with white yoghurt bechamel sauce. At first I didn’t recognise it as yoghurt, thought it was a very fluffy egg. It was lovely to eat, perhaps better accompanied with some bread?
Next up, my kryptonite: cakes! Nyam nyam nyam nyam nyam! We had the Double Chocolate Brownie which was SO unbelievably chocolatey, almost fudgy and deliciously so. This is a serious, serious chocolate brownie; you better believe it!
The Gooey Butter Cake was only okay because our taste buds were so affected by the chocolate brownie and the cheese cake below, hah!

Double Chocolate Brownie and Gooey Butter Cake
Now my favourite, the White Chocolate Lychee Cheesecake. If I could adequately describe how I’m so in love with the cheesecake, I would but right now I just can’t because the only thing on my mind right now is planning on how to get my grubby hands on yet another lychee cheesecake at the TeaRoom tomorrow.
That was quite a mouthful and so was this cheesecake. If I remember correctly, Belinda uses mascarpone for this recipe. The little bits of lychee wedged between the cheese and the crust only serve to complement. You should go try it out if you can.
There are other cakes and cupcakes available. At the moment it’s on a rotation basis while they’re getting business started. So do check out TeaRoom if you can, let me know what you think!

Samsung GALAXY Note in Malaysia… 11.11.11!
Smart phones with 3.5in screens? That’s old news, it’s now time for the smart phone with a 5.3in screen, the new Samsung GALAXY Note!
Let’s see what magic this baby can do…
Impressed? Excited? Itchy hands? Want one? Me too!
One of my favourite features is this: that even with the large 5.3in screen, it’s thin and mobile enough to fit nicely in your pocket!
Check out this unboxing of the Samsung GALAXY Note by Amanz who is well lucky enough to have one already!

The Best Scrambled Eggs in the World!
It seems that I’m really into this whole ‘the best …’ series, eh? But I can’t help it when the best of everything hits me at once
Grill Sergeant Lance was teaching me how to make the best clam chowder in the world (that post will come later) and while it was cooking, he showed me how to make the best scrambled eggs in the world, Gordon Ramsay-style.
I took some photos of the process but I think it’s better if you just watch the video:
Some things to note:
- If you’re out of butter, margarine is an accepted but very poor substitute
- The poor man’s creme fraiche is processed cheese #sux2bp00r
- If you’re anal about calories, this recipe is not for you. Neither is this blog ![]()
- The pot has to have a thick base. Time to invest in a decent pot!
- The mixer/ stirrer has to be silicone not plastic for obvious reasons
Here be Grill Sergeant Lance stirring the s*** out of the eggs.
Here be Grill Sergeant Lance with proper (but expired, hence why we didn’t use it) creme fraiche and processed cheese Happy Cow.
Here be our breakfast that day, yum!
Here be the super big breakfast I made for me and Ryan the nephew when we had a wonderful Ryan’s Gr8 Weekend. I left the eggs in the pot a bit too long because I was tending to the other stuff so it wasn’t as runny. But still awesome!
When are you going to make the best scrambled eggs in the world?
