Since I have nothing intelligent or stupid to contribute to the BN/BR blah, I’ll post photos of food, okay? Besides it is apt seeing that it’s lunch time.

Secret Recipe - carrot cake
Secret Recipe’s carrot cake

Actually I’d always thought it was damn weird for carrots to be present in Western-style cakes. I know the Chinese use lobak merah and lobak putih for various food, but the idea of a lobak merah with nuts and raisins and what-not in a sweet form… don’t know, I thought it was damn out of place. Needless to say I never bothered to try it. Until one day I got really hungry and the only instant thing I could eat in the fridge was a slice of carrot cake that my sister had baked. It was awesome :D And now I love carrot cakes, thanks.

William's seafood chowder close-up
William’s seafood chowder

As we all know, I am a semi-result of William’s evil plan for world domination by transforming PJ peps into baby elephants. The photo above explains the process.

The bowl was bigger than my face.

Homst - seafood kuey teow soup
Seafood kuey teow soup @ Homst

Homst is a Chinese Muslim restaurant in Kota Damansara. The seafood kuey teow soup was peppery and rather normal. Well, as normal as a seafood kuey teow soup can get.

Homst - lontong

My colleague had the lontong. He liked it.

Kiku Zakura - temaki
Temaki @ Kiku Zakura

My auntie was in town, and she belanja-ed me and eldest sis to dinner yesterday @ Kiku Zakura. The soft-shell crab temaki was rather awesome — you could taste the crab’s flesh, as opposed to biting into skin and oil elsewhere.

Unagi something or the other @ Kiku Zakura

I don’t like unagi.

suanie hearts subway sandwiches

Since it’s lunch time, allow me to share with you one of my favourite lunch items, a Subway sandwich.

Subway club sandwich

My favourite pick is the Subway club sandwich — parmesan + oregano bread, turkey ham, turkey breast, roast beef, vege semua taruh (except for olives and pickles. I hate olives and pickles), mustard + mayonnaise + thousand island sauce = happy Suanie!

It’s not cheap so I can’t have it everyday. But on the days when I can afford it, those are days of bliss and utmost happiness and second to none!

And yes, I can wallop the entire foot long sandwich by myself. Go me. I heart Subway.

suanie hearts royce’ chocolate!

My brother-in-law went to Japan and all I got was Royce’ chocolate!

Royce liqour free chocolate

According to him, it could only be purchased at airports @ Japan (Narita and Haneda). But I did a bit of Googling, and found that Lilian bought hers at Isetan in 2006. Not sure if it’s still available there, but I don’t think I am going to find out because I wouldn’t be able to contain myself.

Suanie loves Royce

Ya I know they don’t look very pretty. It’s pure chocolate, covered in chocolate powder, and this one in my hand survived the trip from Japan back to Malaysia. If you eat all of them at one go, you’d end up looking like me. If you already look like me, you’d be a double me. It is so sad that the most awesome things in life make you fat.

Suanie eats Royce

What does it tastes like? Creamy, slightly bitter in a good way, rich, oozy… like you are eating pure butter but it’s chocolate instead. I let some of my friends try it, they liked it too.

So, who is going to Japan soon? :D

dree’s open house a.k.a. we love laksa johor!

Bleh modem at home died, so no Internet at home until that bit is fixed.

Last Saturday, Dree invited us to his pad for Raya open house, claiming that his mother makes the best laksa johor around. I never had laksa johor by his mom before, but KY said it was fanfuckingtastic, so we went around to Dree’s even though me and KY just had a hearty lunch a couple hours before.

Dree looking all manly and tough. Yeah thanks for inviting us AFTER we had lunch, biatch.. Next time wake up earlier :P :P

I couldn’t resist the power of the laksa

Side observation: you know you are fat when William, whose sole mission in life is to transform PJ-ians into baby elephants look at you in a sort of discouraging way and says, “you gained weight.”

spongefox visits carl’s jr burger @ 1u

When we were at VivoCity in Singapore, we passed by a Carl’s Jr outlet. Captivated by the glitzy advertisement of big burgers with fresh lettuce, tomatoes and awesomely massive chunks of beef patty, I wanted to have a go at the burger. But Pinky reminded me that we just had lunch, so unfortunately I had to give it a miss :(

The buzz was that Carl’s Jr reopened an outlet in Malaysia. Apparently they had one in the bird park (there is a bird park in KL?!) but it closed down. The new outlet was to be in 1 Utama, where everything is under one roof and it’s a pain to walk around because it’s so freakin’ huge that you lose track of what you want and begin to wander aimlessly bla bla bla bla bla.

Spongefox wanted to have dinner there. Since I already had dinner, I chose to accompany him because I wanted to see for myself this Carl’s Jr burger thing. I’d heard that it was not cheap, so I wanted to find out how much, and if it would be worth it, etc.

Spongefox can’t decide on his dinner

Erm, I was a tad surprised at the prices. Maybe I shouldn’t have been, but it is surprising to see burgers being sold at RM15++ to RM 25++ in a place very much resembling a fast food outlet. Later at home I read up a bit on Carl’s Jr, and they want you to know that their burgers are of the same quality as in a sit-down restaurant. Okay, but American Chili’s burgers are still slightly cheaper lor… damn you currency exchange rate.

Spongefox’s meal

I think Spongefox had the Guacamole Bacon something or the other, plus a large drink, plus a serving of fries with cheese and (Mexican) chili. Cost him about RM30 with a bit of change, I think? He said it was worth it though, as he is a Carl’s Jr fan, and the outlet in 1U eliminates a reason to go to Singapore…

Carl's Jr 1U - The Guacamole Bacon Burger
Samuel L. Jackson would have said, “Uhmmmm, this is a tasty burger!”

Unfortunately (for me), porker bacon is not available in the Carl’s Jr in Malaysia. You would have to make do with chicky bacon, and I doubt it would be as nice because the porker by default has more fat than the chicky, hence making the porker bacon more delicious by the Chinese standards. Spongefox loved it though.

Carl's Jr 1U - Fries with cheese and chili
Why is Mexican chili not spicy?

The fries wasn’t so good. Cold and… lifeless? You know like how McD fries, when served piping hot is like so full of life and you bite into them and they taste so good and all that? Oh well. Adjectives fail me atm. On the feedback form, Spongefox suggested that they do something about their freedom fries.

Spongefox wolfs down RM25 at one go!

But overall, Spongefox was happy. Good, we like a happy Spongefox! At one point he exclaimed, “if my life was a corny song, right now it would be Benny Benassi’s Satisfaction.”

Uh-uh. By the way, Ramly burgers are only RM3 each, semua taruh.
