Celebrating a special occasion at Cafe Cafe restaurant in Kuala Lumpur

If you’re looking for a nice place to eat to celebrate a special occasion, one of my top recommendations is Cafe Cafe.

It’s French-inspired with crystals hanging from the tall ceiling. It has glass, style and old world glamour. Sure it’s a bit dark inside; you can’t read the menu without a torchlight nor see your food properly. But that only serves to up the spirit of romanticism, don’t you think?

Cafe Cafe’s price is on the high side (KL standards) but the quality has been consistent through the years (they’ve been around for ages!). The waiters are friendly, eager and attentive, and in made-up statistics, there’s a good 85% chance of you getting laid after bringing a special someone to eat at the restaurant.

1. Pan seared foie gras
2. Honey Truffled Prawn
3. Hokkaido Scallop with prosciutto
4. Sorbet

At Cafe Cafe, set menus range from RM115++ to RM195++ for a selection of 2 starters, a palate cleanser, main course, petite four and dessert. I find that it’s the easiest way to order, but you can also go for ala carte.

We were at Cafe Cafe for my mother’s birthday. This year she had her two sisters and brother-in-law to celebrate with her; they’d just returned from a holiday in Chiang Mai.

At the end of dinner, the three sisters decided to treat us to a song that they sang throughout a boat ride in Chiang Mai.

Row, row, row your boat… Gently down the stream….
If you see a crocodile…. Don’t forget to scream….
AAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, real screaming. There was one other table in the restaurant that night, luckily they were amused at the sight of 3 young grandmothers singing like 3-year olds.

My mother would agree that blessing comes in many guises.
