The Mighty East Coast Trip! Panorama Hill in Sungai Lembing, Pahang

What were you doing at 5.30am on the 6th of July, 2012? I bet you were sound asleep, enjoying the comforts of your bed. I was half awake in Sungai Lembing, ready for our early morning walk up Bukit Panorama to catch the sunrise.

I’m sure I was cursing too. Why, what did you expect? 😉

Sungai Lembing is a local touristy town thanks to a few natural attractions, Bukit Panorama (Panorama Hill) being one of them. Then there are the Rainbow Waterfall (next trip), Gua Charas (Charas Cave) and Sungai Pandan waterfall, all not too far away.

Bukit Panorama was a short walk from our accommodation, which was right across from the market. Can’t miss it.

If my unfit arse can make it to the top of Bukit Panorama in less than an hour (with plenty of rest in between), so can you. Of course, fitter folks reach the top in way less than my timing, but the important to remember is this: life is not a competition. It’s the journey that matters, etc.

The way up to the top of the hill is mostly steep stairs, reasonably maintained with a holding rail in the middle. Way easier to navigate with a torch light. You should reach the top by 7am so gauge your timing.

We were lucky that there weren’t many people that day. I was told that it could get pretty crowded on weekends and public holidays, I don’t think jostling with people would be too much fun.

Teasing sun…

At about 7.13am, SUNRISE YAY!

I loved it. I complain about having to do things like these all the time (sorry, comes naturally) but in truth, I absolutely adore it. Must be something about sunrise, clouds, nature and serenity.

And… it’s over at 7.26am. Thank you ladies and gentlemen for your time

Show’s over. Time to head back to town for some breakfast! Got to (over)compensate for all those calories burnt.

Did I walk all the way up in the dark?? :O

But no hurry, stop and enjoy gazing at the beautiful sea of puffy clouds.

We had a good, simple but most pleasing breakfast at the market opposite the place we were put up at. Sungai Lembing is well-known for their silky smooth tofu. I know I know, it’s just tofu right? I mean, how good can tofu be?

Obviously you’ve not tried Sungai Lembing tofu… yet. No photos here but I’ll be back so that’s another blog post for the future.

Joyce blogged about our Sungai Lembing stay but it’s in Chinese so who knows what she really wrote 🙂

  3. Did you check out the suspension bridges further down the road? Nice.

Also, Sg Lembing is also femes for siewyoke that they roast in the earth. Other than that, food-wise, not so good. Kuantan better.
