Kak Nora’s Nasi Kukus Ayam Berempah @ Seksyen 7

One time for lunch, Gier and I went to check out the well-known D’Arab Cafe in Seksyen 7 (that will be in Shah Alam…). It’s in a food court behind UNISEL and it was okay lah. Not overwhelmingly impressive but hardly bad. Just that we thought that Al-Rawsha in KL serves better Arab food.

But something else caught our attention: the long line of queue for nasi kukus.

So we thought we’d try that another time la. And we did, several times over.

The lot is manned by a couple fast-moving staff. They steam the rice, fry the chicken, let you pick the chicken and wrap everything up in paper even if you wanted to eat at the food court itself. Saves washing up, I guess.

I’ve recently began to appreciate the delicious-ness of steamed rice. I’d always thought that all rice was equal, but apparently not. Steamed rice (nasi kukus) is probably one of the nicest things to eat with sambal, mmm….

I really like their deep-fried spiced chicken (ayam berempah) as well. The skin is crispy and oh-so-fragrant, and the meat is tender. Served with pickled vege (acar), curry and sambal pedas (can’t be translated because it loses its essence 😉 ), it was well worth the long drive for lunch.

Then again I wasn’t the one driving so I can’t complain, really.

It’s RM6.00 per serving and you can get it at:
