A new Thai restaurant in PJ is making pork lovers happy. I’m Spicy, located at the end of the same row as Kanna in Section 17 serves pork dishes which makes them stand out among Thai restaurants in the area.

I’m Spicy in Section 17 – cosy setting
We thought we’d check it out because Thai cuisine’s one of our favourites. As dictator, I did the ordering. The I’m Spicy House Drink‘ ice blended mix of pandan, lemongrass, lime and mint leaves sounded good so we got a RM15 jug. It was a fantastic choice (and that was a ‘masuk bakul angkat sendiri’ statement) as the drink was really refreshing. Highly recommended!
They serve their rice compacted into heart shapes, cute. For the 6 of us, we had:
Pomelo salad (RM25), pomelo with roasted chilli paste, tamarind sauce, green apple, carrots and deep-fried squid. Visually pleasing but I thought the taste was average.
Garlic squid (RM20), stir-fried with homemade chilli paste and spring onions. Good with rice as the sauce was tasty and fragrant. Squid was fresh, I enjoyed it.
Tom yam seafood (RM30). We ordered a large and in thick version (as opposed to the clear version). The ingredients in the soup (prawns, squid, clams) were fresh. Unfortunately we thought that the tom yam fell a little flat. I know that some places in Thailand do serve a lighter version of tom yam soup but I think here in Malaysia, we’re used to and expect something stronger (not necessarily spicier).
Here comes the awesome stuff… :D
Grilled pork skewers (RM18); chargrilled lean pork marinated in galangal, lemongrass and garlic, served with Thai special dipping sauce. Quite positively the best dish we had! So good that we ordered a second helping, heh. The meat by itself is delicious but add the sweet + slightly spicy sauce made it out of this world!
Deep fried pork ribs (RM25). It’s pork ribs, deep fried. What’s not to like? :)
Red curry with pork (RM24). You could have the green curry and/or with chicken, but we highly recommend the pork. The meat slices were tender and went down well with the tasty curry. I could eat this with 2 bowls of rice, no problem.
Stir-fried kailan with salted fish (RM15). Decent serving for the price.
Red Ruby (RM7); water chestnut with coconut milk in crushed ice. I didn’t think this version was any good.
Mango with sticky rice (RM9). Portion enough for 3 or 4 people. The sticky rice was served warm with the very slightly chilled mango slices. Quite nicely done, all of us enjoyed this dessert.
The bill came up to RM273.50 for the 6 of us (including a couple of double servings, and 10% service charge). Not cheap, right? Heh then don’t order like us lah ;)
I’ll definitely go back and try other things on the menu. If you enjoy Thai food and have a fondness for pork, I suggest you check out this place, bring a good appetite.

It’s my latest joint too and I’ve been there 3 times in 2 weeks!
Yum yum yum. But slightly pricey for me. Should try the clear tom yam version too. I thought it was nice.
