Update 20th April 2012: This outlet is no longer in operation.
My friend Janice decided to venture into the food and pub business. A few months ago, Chip ‘n Dale opened for business at Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) at one of the shoplots along Lorong Rahim Kajai, now infamous for its array of pubs and restaurants.
Happily for me, Chip ‘n Dale is a Kilkenny outlet = fresh Kilkenny on draught, currently going at RM55 for 3 pints. They have Guinness and Tiger on tap too. I only started going there a few weeks ago but am already impressed with the food served. Friend or not, her chef is pretty darn good!
By the way, Janice was the one who nicknamed me ‘Suanie‘. From the Swan River in Perth: Swan River >> Swanie >> Suanie. A little non-related history there
So Chip ‘n Dale serves non-halal (uh, duh 😛 ) dishes. One of the signature dishes is also one of my favourite, the Drunken Pork Chop (RM22) — grilled pork chop marinated with white rum topped with whole grain mustard sauce, yum!
A size-able piece of tender meat with a delicious sauce that is quite different from pork chops served elsewhere, which makes it unique. Served with 2 side dishes of your choice, mine are always sautéed bacon potatoes and sautéed mushrooms.
My 2nd favourite (or sometimes 1st, depending on my mood) is the Spicy Pork Belly Pizza (RM28). 8 slices of pizza with tomato, mozzarella cheese, capsicum, onions and not forgetting the superstar of the dish, tender pieces pork belly. Best beer food ever!
Horng had the Bauernwurst (RM36) — German farmer sausage with streaky bacon and mashed potato. Pretty good and satisfying.
Yuki ordered the Dory Fish Fillet (RM20) — pan fried dory fish cooked with potato slices, topped with creamy Dill sauce, comes with 2 side dishes of your choice too. I thought it was nice, may get it if I didn’t feel like something too heavy (red meat).
Here are photos of Fireangel and her mom, Horng and Yuki. Because it’s a thing to show others that real people were there and ate the food. Something about being genuine and stuff like that? Shrugs.
All prices are correct at this time, though Janice mentioned that they’re increasing the prices of certain dishes soon, about RM1 or RM2 more. Currently the only levied tax is a 10% service charge.
Currently there’s a MilkADeal promo for Chip ‘n Dale: [50% OFF] RM26.50 instead of RM53 for Pork Knuckle + 15% Discount on A La Carte Menu. Good deal if you want to try out the food there! Only 1 day left to buy though!
Do say hi to me if you see me there!
