Things my friends do: Making Weddings Prettier!

Sometimes when I see Joyce, she’d be busy stitching up heart shaped thingies, like this one:

That’s the hand-made memento for Twestival KL this year, generously sponsored by Favor Essence where Joyce moonlights as a slave partner.

Favor Essence does a lot of wedding decor and favors (the little stuff that you give to your guests as mementos of your event). One of my favourites is the pots of honey with a personalised tag, I thought it was the most creative and sweetest thing (literally) to give to people. Makes sense for a wedding, no? :)

One day I followed Joyce to work. It was a wedding at the Putrajaya Marriott Hotel (which is not really in Putrajaya!!!) and I saw for myself how extra add-ons can make a notable difference to decorations.

If you host your wedding reception at any hotels, they’d provide basic and standard flowers and decoration. At first glance, they’re okay and acceptable. Which they are, of course and I’d stick to them if I was restricted by budget. However if I had some cash to spare, I’d opt to primp them a little. Here’s an example of the basic wedding flower stand arrangement provided by the hotel, and the one ‘modified’ by Favors Essence:

Quite a difference, right?? I thought it mixed very well with the table and chair colours.

Another example is the main table decoration. This was the bare one that I saw. Perhaps the hotel does provide decor for the main table but the couple already wanted their own, so they did not bother.

The couple had wanted an Italian feel to their wedding, hence the dry spaghetti sticks, glass bottles with lace etc. I thought it looked fantastic!

By the way, it was quite a feat getting that HUGE flower arrangement to the middle of the table… Anyway here’s what it looks like with the rest of the table setting.

Fantastic, right?? Even I feel like getting married!! :D
