Oh you know what’s happening. I only just found out today (funny how they like to spring a lot of things on us last minute, i.e. announce today and implement tomorrow), the impression I got was:
Gas tariff increased = electricity tariff increasing. If your household electricity bill is RM77 and below, you won’t see much difference in your next bill. However if your monthly TNB bill comes up to RM77 and above, this is where we say “good luck have fun”.
Didn’t the electricity tariff just went up not long ago? I forgot when.
Electricity bill of RM77, eh? I can’t remember the last time my electricity bill was RM77. Is there anyone in the city with this kind of bill?? Do they make fire from rubbing sticks? How can?? I decided to ask on Twitter:
Is your household electricity bill RM77 or below every month? Tell me how you do it… :X (Twitter Link)
I received some interesting feedback and I’m going to share it here, hopefully to inspire… uh, me :P
: workout more so u get used to the heat so u only use the fan, not a/c. Household of 5.
: (on water heater) I use solar.
: another idea to save money- make sure ur electrical is efficient, using energy savers bulb, standby savers (cheaper to shut off tho)
: No air-cond, x watch TV, lights only in 1 room at a time, only ‘permanent’ 1 is the fridge. On average bill is ard RM50. Gd luck! ;)
: @suanie @ShaolinTiger You guys think your electricity bills are high, try running a dental clinic. Adoi. It hurts.
: i’ve been expecting the rise in tariffs for more tham a year now. Mine’sslightly less than RM100, slightly more if we use aircon
: Average is about that. Max RM130 so far. 1 heater, 1 fridge, 1 fishtank, 1 distiller, 1 espreso machine, 1 tv, 1 laptop.
: my last month’s bill was the highest, RM72+. the highest ever in the 5yrs I’ve lived in my condo. Cos used aircon due to hot weather
: if weather not hot, we use fan. on warm days wl turn on for few hours, then turn off. past mth has been really hot hence higher bill
: we use energy saving bulbs, separate trash (short of hvg compost, cos condo kenot), wash a full load.
: mine is around 150 and that’s with air conditioning and a heavy duty pc turned on almost everyday
: live in darkness :-D actually I have been able to do it for the last few months … not live in darkness but below RM77.
Food for thought, eh? With this current hike, I foresee my bill to increase RM10 or so.
Actually an extra RM10 or RM20 a month is not that big a deal. The angryfying part is when unscrupulous traders increase their prices, using this as an excuse, just because they can. You find that your usual mixed rice may cost an additional RM0.50 to RM1.00. Wait and see the additional 20 sen or 50 sen here and there.
Did I tell you about the Chinese coffee shop near to my office? Every time anything increases, their prices would also shoot up. For the longest time, I was buying one of PJ’s most expensive char siew pao at RM1.50 each. This was when everyone else was selling at RM1.20 okay. But they can do it mah, because they can.
Ohh don’t get me started on the mamak also near to my office. Don’t worry, I’ve ceased from buying from them but I must tell the story. So I love my Nescafe ais, and if you know me, you’d know that my order is kurang kurang kurang manis. Not kurang manis, not kurang kurang manis, but x3 kurang manis. Only because I think that all mamak dudes are on a conspiracy give me diabetes.
So one day I asked for an order because my throat was so parched that I must have my Nescafe with ice or I’d die (an imaginary death). How much was it? RM 2.00. HUH???? SINCE WHEN A NESCAFE AIS IS RM2?? Hehehe, harga gula naik mah… the cashier bashfully grinned.
I’m like… BUT MY ORDER IS FOR KURANG KURANG KURANG MANIS??!!?!??!?!?!
He grinned again, haiya sama saja lah… :D
There you go.
