How much would you pay for frozen yoghurt?
I am going to sound like a grumpy old lady pointing my cane at you, wheezing, “Do you know how much things cost these days? Too bloody much that is!”
After dinner, Kevin and I walked past the Tutti Frutti Frozen Yoghurt shop in TTDI. He suggested that we give it a try, as he often see the place filled up with people by the truckload (or something like that). Okay lah, why not kan.
At Tutti Frutti, it’s essentially a self-service frozen yoghurt + topping = chargeable by weight. You take a cup, you go to any of the machines filled with frozen yoghurt of different flavours, pull the level down to dispense as much frozen yoghurt as you like, fill up your cup with as much toppings as you want to (or as the selection allows), then pay according to how much your cup weighs at the end.
Beware though, RM5.30 for 100gm can considerably lighten your wallet! In the photo above, the cup on the right is mine, cost RM6.10. The cup on the left is Kevin’s, probably close to RM17. The one holding the two cups is Kevin, who also bought me dessert. Thanks!
But it does make you think, doesn’t it? True, frozen yoghurt is supposed to be healthier et cetera. Taste-wise.. erm, it’s flavoured frozen yoghurt… It’s quite a bit of money to spend on dessert though! Or did everyone in Klang Valley suddenly had a significant salary increase while I was sleeping, thus equipped with higher spending power? Don’t think so… Okay, I’m also cheap, that’s why.

i love frozen yogurts but they’re so expensive! last time i kena, paid considerable amount for a large cone and the freakin ice cream turned out to be HOLLOW inside! wtf
rm17 for the one on the left? wtf! but everyones on a tutti frutti craze right now
kim: what was the last frozen yoghurt thingy available here? didn’t last long, right?
fietheelf: i guess the toppings also quite heavy, though kevin took a few swirls of 2 flavours
I love frozen yogurt and don’t mind the price. Tutti fruitti is ok. Charging by weight and toppings is quite a good way to go. Always take the smaller cup.
My favorite was that stall in Ikano – they also had a branch in Tropicana City Mall – Yogurplus? Korean i think, selling kimchi and salads with really friendly staff. Now it’s replaced by a taco stand of all things. They need a froyo place in 1U and Ikano/Curve area.
Yah they seem to close down pretty fast.
Ikano one is gone I think. That was pretty cheap but as Kim said…hollow.
I’m cheap…. i blend my own RM1.50 Nestle yogurt in a cup with all my fav fruits.
walaahh…. yogurt smoothie
shuaddict: if it’s RM2 per 100g, I’d not mind the price also
I suppose it’s me, I’m not a frozen yoghurt kind of person. Actually I’m not a yoghurt kind of person.
ST: this one is owned by Naza group, they’re opening up a lot of shops rather fast. Wonder how it will turn out
lance: come to think of it, i don’t actually like yoghurt!
I buy the RM1.50 yogurt from supermarket, freeze it in the freezer, then blend it in smoothies. Much tastier and cheaper too..
RM 17 for yogurt? @.@
There is a theory that fermented foods like yoghurt miraculously helps lose fat. Simply by virtue of it being fermented (not due to its low fatness, low sugar etc.). Something to do with its yeastiness, good bacteria and so on, Other examples of useful fermented foods, according to this theory, are miso soup… and beer!
eyeris: and you didn’t add a single drop of alcohol? don’t believe you
KY: can consider as 2 scoops + some topping tho
Suertes: where one’s body fat is concerned, there’s no such thing as miracles. it’s pure hard work and smarts, knowing what to do and what not to do. i.e. hitting the gym 3 hrs straight as opposed to an hour of optimal workout , generating same results
but yes, beer…
eyeris has a good point heheh
RM17 for yogurt? I don’t think I would like to try it out.
the envoy: only if you enjoy yoghurt! i don’t, really..
uni student: haha well maybe if you had more to spare, you would
It’s pricey
my uni dekat tu Pyramid, and I can’t help but spend money sob sob. First time i bought kena, rm16. then i got a bit smart, rm6-9 these days, and uh i test quite a lot hAHAHA. and i don’t take toppings.
ok i dunno why im telling you about my yogurt addiction
but sometimes i buy the expensive yogurt from cold storage (the rm4.50 one, some french name) and i freeze it and it is betterrrr.
ok. done.
haha, i take it as ice cream. but without it being creamy.
things like this to me its more than just seeing it as “just yogurt” cause think about it, starbucks is just bloody coffee. latte is just another cool way of saying kopi susu.
its an “option”. i got more money. why settle for ice cream potong when i can get a ten ringgit yogurt.
no one complains about ten ringgit coffee.
or 6 ringgit sushi plates.
or RM 12 movie tickets.
In malaysia what choice do you have for ice cream? swensons tutup kedai, i think there’s one in subang tapi more like kedai makan.
baskin robbins doing ok la.
new zealand ice cream?
I guess its fun swirling up your own mix of yogurt. check out these brands from the states. lagi canggih. and i think they are here to stay for the long run.

I first tasted tutti frutti in LA recently and it only cost us$1.20(rm3.70) per 100 grams and paid us$4 for a decent serving. Here it cost rm5.30 per 100grams.
It’s ridiculous more expensive than the US.
Compare big Mac it cost us3.75 in USA here it cost us2.25. Of course it shd be cheaper here. Common sense. ….. Naza group shd do more homework before
Marketting at this cut throat price.
Boycott tutti frutti in malaysia
