planks are ouch

I know I always say that I hate a lot of things in OBC. You should know me well enough to know that I say only… But there are times when what I say is absolutely true and I’ll tell you why.

One of the things I hate to do most is plank exercises. What is a plank?

Plank Exercise

You can read more on how to do it here, where the photo above is nicked as well.

The thing is that the OBC instructors only make us do planks after say, 30 minutes of other stuff. When you are bruised and battered, it’s not easy holding on to your planks. It can be done lah, just that you’ll hear a lot of weird noises from many of us. We once did it for 2 mins WITH The North Face backpacks filled with sand packs. Mine was 8kg. It was very, very painful.

Anyway I’ve been dreading the plank for a week now. Think it was about 2 weeks ago when we did planks and I bruised my elbow. It didn’t recover well or fast enough, then the next sessions with planks made it worse.

Result from doing planks

Looks like nothing but it hurts like shit when you are down on your elbows okay. By the way, please ignore the red spots around my arm. Result of a minor allergy reaction to either grass, sand, mud, dirty water or exercise ;)

Kevin asked me to get something called Tubigrip, but I couldn’t find it in either Caring or Guardian. So I got the Scholl’s ProSport support for elbows. Wore it on Tuesday then realised halfway that we weren’t going to do planks that day, so took them off immediately. Not very comfortable okay, but I’d rather wear them than aggravate the elbow bruise.

Okay lah, I’m done whining. For now.
