It was all Bev’s ‘brilliant’ idea. I like to put all the blame on Bev because I am Suanie. And Suanie is usually not crazy enough to voluntarily attend additional BootCamp sessions, on top of the ones she’s already doing. So ‘Bev’s brilliant idea *sarcasm*’ is my opening line and everyone would look at her and ooh aah you are one crazy chick.

Okay lah, to be honest, that is all bullshit. What really happened was, yesterday Bev wrote on her FB that she was going to attend the OBC trial sessions that evening. I saw that, caught on to her enthusiasm and gatal wanted to join. So I called Bev to confirm that she was going, and then Sayshan to ask him if I could join the trial sessions. He said to go ahead, so yay.

So there was this huge discussion on FB to get other BootCampers to go as well. It ended up with me, Bev, Kevin, Megaa and Tracy at the Astaka field at 6.45 pm, as well as Kenny, Sergeant Sim, Lance Corporal Daniel and 4 or 5 new recruits sweating it out until 7.45 pm. Felt a bit weird to be doing our warm ups in such a small circle. Did some running and a series of exercises (grunts, push-ups, lunges sit-ups… the usual) then Sergeant Sim decided that the older recruits should get a sandbag each. Because as he said, “this should be easy for you guys what…” -_-” Run with the damn sandbag. Sit-up with the damn sandbag. You get the idea lah.

Felt like we did more because it was such a small group. Very little opportunity to cheat also, heh. Should remind myself to wear ankle guards, can’t really see well in the evening, and Padang Astaka is not known for its smooth and balanced surface. Learned that morning exercise suits me better. Still hate plank holds.

After a mamak session, got home and showered, ate a bit of dinner. Played some Facebook games, went to bed and got about 4 hours of sleep. Good enough lor. Woke up, got ready, went out to the field again.

Lots of cardio this morning. As per Suanie, felt like dying. But surprisingly, didn’t feel like dying as much. I think the session the evening before helped… in some weird ways. Only painful part was plank holds because my arm was slightly bruised from yesterday. Bad grass, bad bad grass (not the one you smoke). Ab muscles hurt a little too. Ankle felt a bit weird, most likely I missed a step somewhere. Right now, thighs are beginning to hurt. Whine whinge whine. Nothing I won’t get over with.

Of course I moaned almost non-stop this morning. Of course the instructors didn’t care.

Me: We came yesterday, you know… (puts on kesian face hoping to gain sympathy)
Corporal Faizal: Yah, I was here in my car, I saw you guys.
Corporal Jason: And I was thinking about you guys while at the pub.

-_-”

Me: I’m not coming tomorrow!!! (puts on really kesian half-dead look)
Sergeant Sim: Why not? (gives me a look that fully expects me to stop whining and show up tomorrow)

Later as I was walking back to my car with someone (sorry, forgot who it was. Tracy, maybe?)

Someone: Are you coming tomorrow?
Me: OF COURSE NOT!
Someone: Har.. why?
Me: Err… you don’t ask me these kind of questions immediately after a BootCamp session. Of course I will go tomorrow, but if you ask me now, everything will be no.

I don’t know where all this motivation and discipline is coming from. So unlike me. So 6 hours of BootCamp sessions in 6 days? I don’t want to say it out too loud in case I won’t make it, but I quite hope I will and do.

Found out that a fellow BootCamper, Aay has muscular dystrophy. Felt really bad to hear about Aay’s situation (I know you know I cannot help it), and also very much humbled by Aay’s courage and determination to make the best of it while it lasts. Knowing me, I doubt I’d stop my whining any time soon. But deep inside me, it will serve as a reminder to be grateful and to continue pushing myself because I am my own stop sign. Thank you for sharing your story.

p/s: OBC’s trial sessions this week. Two (2) more sessions left: PJ at Padang Astaka (behind Amcorp Mall), Wednesday and Friday from 6.45 pm – 7.45 pm. Click here to sign up. The sessions are free, but don’t be late else we’d be punished and I’d kick your ass.
