original bootcamp malaysia: session 01

So, Bootcamp.

I don’t want to get into why I joined etc, though I might write something about it at the end of the year.

I got to know about Original BootCamp Malaysia from a forum. It looked and sounded interesting enough, and after days of privately (late at night) and publicly (Twitter, Facebook) thinking about it, I decided to sign up. Jaime must have seen my status updates or something because she asked me about it. She was more gung-ho than I was to fill out the form, heh.

There are 2 OBC locations — KL at Padang Merbok and PJ at Padang Astaka. For the PJ location, there are 2 sessions. The first one is from 5.45 to 6.45 a.m. and the second is from 7 – 8 a.m. Naturally I chose the PJ location and the later session. For details on pricing and other stuff, go check out their FAQ.

I mentioned that I signed up for Bootcamp on my blog last week, something about paying for someone to bark and yell at you. The next day I received an e-mail from the OBC people, with info on what to bring and what to expect etc. There was this line somewhere at the bottom, “It is important to remember that ORIGINAL BOOTCAMP is not about yelling and hundreds of push ups.” LMAO I’m sure it’s a standard e-mail blast, I don’t think they read my blog but what a coincidence, eh? 😉

Anyway I went for my first OBC session this morning. Didn’t feel like waking up, hit the snooze button a couple of times then grudgingly dragged my arse out of my warm and comfy bed. Tock had given me directions that I could understand, so it was just a matter of getting there on time. Apparently the OBC instructors do not take well to recruits arriving late, heh.

Saw Tock as he wobbled out from his early morning session. Chatted for a bit, all he could utter was, “pace yourself, pace yourself…”

At this point, I don’t quite know what to say. My mind is still in a blank, my body is sore and my legs ache. That is to be expected, right? All in all it reminded me of Pendidikan Jasmani (Physical Education for you lot who didn’t attend national schools) except that my PJ teachers never pushed me to do anything I didn’t like. Cannot do sit-ups ar? Okay next. Cannot reach your toes? Try lah… still really cannot? Okay next.

The OBC instructors were encouraging but firm. You know how well I take to encouragement, especially when it comes to exercising 😉 At one point I was more-walking less-jogging when an instructor came up next to me and started saying really happy things like, “You are doing really well, push yourself! Stomach cramp? I know I understand… take deep breaths, it really helps! Come on let’s go! Okay next cone we are going to jog! Just a bit more now… okay cone coming! Let’s do it!”

Fuwah at that time I really wanted to kick him lor. But no more strength already, so the best thing I could do to get away from his cheerfulness was to complete the jog. I’m sure they all know how we felt, especially when it’s our first time there. Nothing personal, just have to get over ourselves.

I’ll blog more on Original BootCamp Malaysia as and when I go for more sessions. To end this, actually I felt quite good afterwards. Tired, in shock, blur, faint-ish, exhausted, you name it. But the adrenaline and buzz at the end was pretty great. Quite happy also. Well I signed up and paid for this what. So I better get used to it.
