hold me like the river jordan, and i will then say to thee, “you are my friend”

I loved Michael Jackson. His music, his lyrics, his dance moves, his persona. I watched his beautifully choreographed music videos on endless repeat. I decorated my wall with his poster and the words, “Michael Jackson is the King of Pop” with a green felt-tip pen. In 1999 when I made my first web site, I had a Michael Jackson shrine complete with biographies, photos, discography and lyrics. I have a copy of J. Randy Taraborrelli’s Michael Jackson: The Magic and The Madness that I read more than a dozen times, which made me feel closer to the star himself.

It was also why I never believed in all the accusations and charges hurled at him. Can’t be arsed to explain it here, I’ll lend you the book if you want to read it and if I can locate it.

For all his faults and all his eccentricities, there is no other. RIP Michael.
