boost juice bars @ klcc
The lovely Yasmin (lady boss over at Cafe Libre) told me some time ago that she, together with her sisters and brothers-in-law would be bringing Boost Juice Bars to Malaysia. Of course I had no idea what she was talking about at that time, the same way someone from Australia would not understand Old Town White Coffee. Plus I am not a healthy-living conscious sort of person so all that I registered was: friend + bought Malaysian franchise + something to do with fruit juice.
I was meeting Oliver for lunch at KLCC today, so I thought I’d drop by to see busy Yasmin. The Boost Juice outlet at KLCC is on the 2nd level, just outside the food court in front of the escalators. The first person I saw was Jimmy, my favourite cafe manager in a Boost Juice uniform. The way he wore his head gear with his hair all spiked up reminded me of the 80s. So I laughed because I am mean like that.
Oliver wanted a Lemon Crush (freshly juiced lemon and orange, sorbet & ice). I asked Yasmin to recommend me something refreshing, so she got me the Mango Magic smoothie (mango, banana, mango nectar, TD4 vanilla yoghurt and ice) which apparently is the best-selling Boost Juice Bars item worldwide. After trying it, I can understand why. Damn delicious wei! Sorry no photographs ‘cos I didn’t put it down long enough to take out my camera.

I was happily taking photos when I heard a voice behind me asking, “Excuse me, but why are you taking pictures?” For a minute there I thought I was going to get into trouble. “Errr, [slightly long pause] for my blog?” “Oh okay, just be careful, ‘cos the security guards might stop you; they are kind of strict about taking photographs in the building. Just say that you are taking photos of a friend or something!” Turns out he’s one of Yasmin’s bro-in-law whom I’d met before. WAH LAU SCARE ME ONLY!
Talked to him for a bit, he said there are plans for 3 outlets this year and 7 more next year. If they can open one in PJ then it’d be great. By PJ I mean Centrepoint, 1Utama or The Curve, heh.
Anyway do go try it out. If you tell them that you are Suanie’s friend or sent there via this blog, you will definitely not get discounts, let alone free smoothies. Hahaha such is life, suck it up. I paid for my own smoothie okay!
Okay technically I didn’t, Oliver did. Thanks

I don’t like them. they took over the SF juice Labs there. No more Banana Moo smoothies.
I like all juice tbh, they better open a branch somewhere more accessible though. KLCC = nothx.
I took a photo and showed them to my friend back in Perth.
Pretty exciting!
My fav is Mango Magic or Energy Lift(TM)
I want a boost of mood!
raspberry ripe!
GREEN TEA MANGO MANTRA FOR THE WINNNNNNN!!!!!
I was so excited when I saw they were opening. Boost is such a huge part of my life in Melbourne since there’s a branch a block away from my apartment.
Yasmin showed me what you wrote on Boost. And as I read it, I ‘roamed’ around to see what else you are up to and liked the other pieces you posted. Love your style. And your Manglish is quite cute actually and isn’t over-mangled, so-to-speak. Its just possible that I might become a regular visitor to your site. Keep up the good work.
( Rahim ~ Yasmin’s Dad. Fair like her but with more hair than necessary ! Doesn’t quite look like her, though ~ more like Brad Pitt when I last checked in the mirror ! )
Ya Hor, I think KLCC is the only mall in KL with a no-pictures policy, that I am aware of.. I saw the guards stop a couple of tourists brandishing a camera from snapping once.
Actually there’s an old town in Melbourne ok. lol
hmmm… no price mentioned? recession ler… :p
eyeris: lmao sucks to be you
I have no complains!!
ST: all my fav. outlets should have a presence in centrepoint!!
cynthia: the mango magic was damn cun!
eiling: me too!
plastyk: bit sour right? i don’t like
mell: haha yeah i read your tweet!
Rahim: hello! thank you for your kind words. re: brad pitt look-alike – i need to see it for myself!!
suertes: i saw it happen before actually. and sniggered until it almost became my turn
ky: the culture ky, the culture!
zewt: RM9++ above
The staff looks very enthusiastic.
Oh wait, that’s Cafe Libre staff.
Put one in Centrepoint FTW
HB: heh i’m sure you recognise them too!
David: I agree!
I was upset that SFC’s juice lab was gone cos tht’s where i get my muesli/ yoghurt fix but this is very interesting! i frequent Juice Works a lot and they serve pretty fresh juices with a decent price tag. Very creative with their menu too. But starting from RM 9 and above ah? like quite dear to have it regularly. I’m a really huge fan of fresh fruit juices but you can get no fresh shit wtf around without paying that kinda price or if you buy the cheap ones, you may only get fresh fruit juices wannabes aka bottled sunkist
disheartening (re: pricing) cos if anyone opens a juice bar with the purpose of cultivating a healthy diet lifestyle, it shouldn’t be made expensive which rendered the product less reachable to those who can’t afford it. Like organic vegetables pftt.
It’s so expensive that I would rather eat pesticide grown vegetables cos clearly, buying organic vegetables on a regular basis is not sustainable unless one shits gold and diamonds. A normal round cabbage costs RM 2- 3 in a supermarket (could be cheaper if gotten from a market). Similar cabbage but halved, with the organic tag on it costs RM 5.95 wah lau now vegetables also so expensive dah la guna tahi untuk tanam!
Anyway that is a story for another day. Thanks for this mini(?) review cos they will see me very often! despite its very starbucks like price but much healthier though, I will buy them for the fact that they’re selling fresh fruit juices not “fresh fruit” juices.
No wonder I dropped by the other day for SF juice labs’ yogurt and they had closed down! =( Everytime I’m there I never miss my yogurt/muesli fix and now it’s GONE!!!!! Boo. hoo.
