I too sometimes catch myself hankering for the good old days of cheap and cheerful food.  These days don&#039;t seem to be cheap or cheerful.  I got lazy the other night and watched a program by a guy who wanted to make the country&#039;s worst sausage.  Sausages are disgusting anyway, but when you saw what went into the &#039;typical&#039; sausage, well...  it was grotesque.  Anyway, for part of the program, he showed the ingredients list to a nutritionist who pointed out that the ingredients had *negative* nutrional value - not only did you consume nutrients to digest the stuff, you got nothing back...  Anyway, I have gone right off processed/manufactured food.  Put it this way, you&#039;re rather eat frog than sausage, if you knew what went into one (clue: not much meat...).  Erm, have no idea why I am relating this except that you are an exceptional food blogger and, er... I still can&#039;t think what I was thinking of when I was thinking of t that.

Oh yeah, the good ol&#039; days.  I actually remember being able to buy a chocolate swiss roll - standard food item in the UK - for 36p when I was at school.  We even had a Chocolate Swiss Roll club we liked them so much.  Today, you pay over a pound, and they aren&#039;t as good either (or I have just developed adult taste?).  Prices have tripled at least, since them good ol&#039; days, and they just don&#039;t make &#039;em like they used to.

Anyway, look out for Seabrooks crisps - much nicer!  And Smith&#039;s Square Crisps :)  And now I&#039;m off to find out what a Ringit is worth in real money ;)</description>
