win tix to the mtv asia awards ‘08 by xpax!
Looks like the season of entertainment awards is upon us, this time on our shores. This year’s MTV Asia Awards will be held on the 2nd August 2008 (Saturday) at the Arena of Stars, Genting Highlands. From the website it seems that an impressive list of celebrities are headed our way. Karen Mok will co-host the show with Jared Leto (anyone remembers ‘My So-Called Life‘ ??) and the event will include performances by The Pussycat Dolls, Leona Lewis, OneRepublic, Panic at the Disco, The Click Five and Stephanie Sun (one of my favourite Chinese singers) among others. You like?

Then you are in luck, that is if you are a Celcom Xpax customer. From now until… uh, the day before the event, I suppose… Celcom is giving out FREE tickets to the MTV Asia Awards 2008 – that’s one pair for each winner, 6 winners everyday! Of course there are things that you’ll need to do (you will grow up to realise the phrase ’something for nothing’ also translates to the phrase ‘too good to be true’) but it seems more than easy enough:
1) Type XPAX MTV on your cellphone and sent it to 28881
2) Reload a mere RM 10 or more on your Xpax
That automatically makes you eligible to stand a chance to win those coveted tickets! Good luck, have fun 
Under the circumstances that you unfortunately fail to procure tickets to the show, but would still like to be within a few (hundred) feet away from your favourite stars, well…
You can! That is if you get yourself invited to the MTV Asia Awards X-Party. This will be at the Genting International Showroom where you can watch the awards live on a massive screen, alongside with DJ Tony Touch, Hujan (the band, not the weather), Faizal Tahir, Jien, Cheryl Samad and *gasps* Hannah Tan!
Again using my slightly-deflating though not rocket science theory of ‘no free lunch’…
1) Wear something awesome that you put on to go party. Must have a dash of purple..
2) Hang out at these places at these times TONIGHT (31 July)
- 11 pm at Zouk KL
- 11.30 pm at Velvet KL
- 12 am at Main Hall along Jln Ampang
- 1 am at Coco Banana at Sunway
- 1.30 am at Barcelona at Sunway
3) Get spotted by Celcom’s purple X-Girls
4) Win party tickets!

And now… my winners’ predictions for the awards…which is based on nothing but my personal preferences, of course. Unfortunately a lot of people do not agree with me most of the time, but that doesn’t seem to stop me from trying, heh. It’s fun anyway, so here goes…

Suanie’s prediction: So that’s what they call ‘collaboration’ these days… My choice = Timbaland/ One Republic. I mean, is there even a dispute?!

Nominees: 30 Seconds To Mars, Fergie, Justice, Panic at the Disco
Suanie’s prediction: Panic at the Disco. Because I don’t know who the rest are, and I don’t like Fergie
Category: Bring Da House Down (which I think means Best Concert)
Nominees: Xtina Aguilera, Linkin Park, Muse, Black Eyed Peas
Suanie’s prediction: Muse! I wasn’t there, but I don’t care, they win!
Category: Favourite International Artist in Asia
Nominees: Avril Lavigne, Fergie, Justin Timberlake, Linkin Park
Suanie’s prediction: Justin Timberlake. Even though he dissed Tiesto 
But I guess he’s too hot in Asia
Category: Favourite Malaysian Artist
Nominees: Faizal Tahir, Nicholas Teo, Siti Nurhaliza, Pop Shuvit
Suanie’s prediction: Pop Shuvit ftw!
Well, I hope I predicted correctly for at least one category. Otherwise that would mean I suck real bad, out of touch with what’s cool, etc. What’s your prediction then?

jared leto is sooooo hawt. hehe. requiem for a dream! and he doesn’t sing half bad too.
my predictions are onerepublic (cuz they’re there!), onerepublic/timbaland, fergie, muse, justin timberlake, popshuvit.
so sad. can’t go. it’s gonna be a busy weekend for me and there are other stuff that are more important to do. oh wells. have a good one, suanie.
actually, from my experience of watching too many award shows… (esp in this region).. they usually give the awards to the artists who would be there at the show. unless you are at the grammys etc.. but it has almost been that whoever is coming to perform, he/she/ the band will win whatever category they’d been nominated in..

Jared Leto was great in Requiem for a Dream. One of my favorite movies. I loved that film but probably it’s coz I can relate to it. You should watch it if you haven’t already, Suanie!
