project petaling street is 5 years old

I read that Aiz was looking for PPS testimonials. Maybe this is a bit too late, but as you may have noticed (besides the fact that I keep repeating it) I have less time to blog these days. Well okay, maybe if I applied myself, I could always find the time. But that would mean giving up some of my chilling out/ destressing time which includes gaming and mindless clicking on assorted photos on Hot Or Not. Half-naked, well-fit male bodies or blogging? Hmmm…

I don’t remember the first time I access Project Petaling Street (PPS). I do remember (sort of) its layout where you could ping your posts, and there were RSS feeds of a few selected bloggers on the sidebar. Back then Jeff Ooi was yet a YB (and definitely more ranty and accessible ;) ), the blogosphere was much smaller hence more intimate… well it was (and some parts, still is) loads of fun.

In 2005, Aiz and gang organised a PPS bash to celebrate PPS’ 2nd anniversary. It was held at Charlie’s Place (now closed) and it was the first time I could put many faces to the blogs. Of course there were other bloggers’ gatherings prior to the party, but they were on a smaller scale, though no less fun.

In 2005 I was 24 years old. Hence I had no qualms of putting myself out there in wacky posts (though they’d be considered tame in today’s standards) such as parading in assorted outfits to be worn to the party. Another reason I could do that was because I was not as fat and pudgy as I now am, and I could fit into all those clothes that I had. I am not even going to put up the photos here because every time I look at how I used to be, the desire to pick up the nearest knife and duly and painfully drag it across my chest is so strong that I may not be able to stop myself. So, click on the link above if you would like to see them.

The party itself was rather fun for me. Met lots of people, had an absolutely grand time. Then we kept waiting for the next party, but I suppose life happens. Now that I am older and can better understand working life, I can thoroughly appreciate the hard work of organising and managing a party of such scale on your own time. Thanks to the lot :)

As it is, I’ll always have a soft spot for PPS. Happy birthday!
