Lazy to elaborate, but you can read the context at Marina Mahathir’s blog. I would have purchased a secondary school uniform and cam-whored to death in it, but then I remembered that I am fat and ugly.

haih but the white shirt so transparent.. then all these girls purposely want to distract their male teachers with colorful bras as if it’s the first thing on their minds to seduce their lecherous old teachers! how ah like this. i think we should cover all our female students with big black boxes and make them waddle around school. they must wear this big black box regardless of their race or religion, because malaysia is multi cultural and not discriminatory at all.
better yet, girls shouldnt go to school! because even by walking around, they’re encouraging rape. oh the hard life of a malaysian female student.

having worn the pinafore throughout my secondary school years, i can honestly say that it is probably the LEAST flattering of all uniforms! (yes even with the ’sexy’ white shirt underneath it). c’mon, all that puppy fat being emphasized on our tummies? i remember when chinese girls started wearing baju kurungs because it was ‘cool’ with the added advantage of looking slimmer!

Huhu. The white baju kurung is alluring esp worn by young girls with colorful bras. I remembered being angry when my friend was telling me that a bus driver commmented on her bra on her way to school. We were 12!
I think the problem is lecherous man thinking its funny to heap insults or harassment on young girls. Ugh.
It’s not about the uniforms. More about how the students wear them. I have to agree with some of the comments above. Baju kurung worn without the tudung and colourful bra is not appropriate for young girls. I also see some girls like to unzip the zips on their pinafores. As much as we hate school rules, some are meant to teach youngsters. A lot of parents also fail in parenting nowadays.
Imagine someone coming to work in thin blouse with colourful bra… or unzip the skirt in the work environment. Hahaha…
Sri Delima wrote before that the baju kurung, as demure as it may seem at first sight, is actually very alluring and sensual. i paraphrase of course. and the white t-shirt that we wore in primary/ high school were not of the thickest material, well because a) generally school uniform is not subsidised by any organisations. to sell it at an affordable price while maintaining some semblance of clothing, sometimes the manufacturers push out sub-standard material, hence the not-so-thick cloth. b) it’s hot in malaysia and not every school are equipped with air conditioning, and yes it is hotter now than those years when most of us were in primary/ high school.

In multicultural Malaysia, home to majority-Muslim Malays as well as ethnic Chinese and Indians, female students at government schools have a choice of wearing a white blouse with a knee-length skirt or pinafore.
They may also wear a “baju kurung” and a headscarf is optional for Malay students.
Munirah said that “covering up” according to Islamic precepts was important to fend off social ills, including “rape, sexual harassment and even premarital sex.”
“This leads to babies born out of wedlock and, to an extent, even prostitution,” she said.
“Decent clothes which are not revealing can prevent and protect women from any untoward situations,” she said, suggesting that girls wear a blouse of a different colour or with an undergarment.
However, the girls themselves also came in for criticism, with the association saying that some used the white blouse to lure men.
“This is the source of the problem, where we can see that schoolgirls themselves are capable of using this to attract men to them,” Munirah said.

in my school, female prefects wore only the white shirt with a tie and a knee length skirt. there were some who don’t wear another layer underneath the shirt so… the bra was visible to some extent, depending on conditions. lol. think ‘wet t-shirt contest’ or… just the right lighting condition… the silhouette appears. hahaha.. ok.. i’m going too far..
Many times I think depend on the gal themselves, like what color of the bra they are wearing..
