ear/ hair/ jay chou

My right ear was acting up (again and again and again). I went to the doctor’s, and he decided to, in his own words, ’slice it deeper to remove everything’. He removed the surface swelling first, put me on a course of antibiotics, then told me to return that evening for the minor surgery. He advised me to wash my hair before going back to the clinic, as I wouldn’t be able to wash it for a couple of days after that. So if we were hanging out the past couple of days and my hair stank to high heavens, I apologise. Blame the doctor.

That evening I went back to the doctor’s. He asked me to remove my T-shirt. I asked him why. He said that the iodine that he would be applying to my ear would be impossible to wash off. I had a good bra on, and decided to save that instead. Bla bla bla, he injected anesthetic, did what he had to do, bla bla bla, kau tim. Hopefully the infection will not reoccur.

And that was why I looked like this after the visit to the doctor:

Nice guy, but really, really noob at bandaging.

Had my hair chopped off a bit, and my eyebrows threaded for Chinese New Year. My sister hates it everytime I go to the hairdresser, because I’d ask for a shorter fringe, and I wouldn’t hear the end of it until it grows back.

Thought I’d go to my regular eyebrow threader (is there such an occupation?) in Bangsar, but apparently they do not open for business on Sundays. Could have sworn that they do, based on their business card. But as I was already in Bangsar, I did not want to go home with my usual unruly eyebrows. So I called up a few people to ask if they know of any other eyebrow threaders in the area. Luckily minishorts does, and she directed me to Rupini’s.

I wish I could just not give a damn.

Was at the Kung Fu Dunk Uth Fest @ 1U on Saturday. Met up with Nicholas, waited for him to be done with his KFC lunch, then we went to M&S to check out the relocation sale. He bought something, I almost did but didn’t.

Bla bla bla, the reason we were there was for the Jay Chou’s scheduled appearance at about 7. Nuffnang kindly gave me a VIP pass because I am so awesome and all that. Waited waited waited, hung out with Simon, May Zhee, Ringo, Yatz… posed in front of a giant Mamee/ Funkees billboard…

… recognised two of the Hap Kune Do performers to be Chris and Leoni… blast from the past :) FYI their late father Lawrence Leong began the martial arts school many years ago, you can view a YouTube video of him here. Saw Michael Yip as he was carrying out his duties as the official photographer.

I really liked the male emcee at the event. Found out later that his name is Liang, and I thought he did a damn good job. Here’s a short video clip of him working up the crowd, teasing them with promises of an opportunity to camwhore with le Jay Chou. Dude was a performer through and through.

At around 8, le Jay Chou and his entourage arrived. He was accompanied by a co-star in the upcoming movie ‘Kung Fu Dunk’, and the movie director Kevin Chu. This was the best photo I could take, using the highest level of digital zoom that my N95 provides.

You want my honest opinion? The two actors on stage could have shown more humility and be more grateful to the organisers who flew them in, and the fans who buy their albums/ movie tickets etc. They looked uninterested in being there and unenthusiastic in their greetings. I was unimpressed and uninspired by their presence. Not a die-hard fan of Jay Chou but he’s among my favourite Chinese singers. Just felt sorry a bit for the hardcore fans who were gathered there since mid-noon, refusing to take shelter (it was drizzling some) for fear of losing their coveted spots…

Oh wells.

Assorted Blah
