the nye celebration at midzone report

We were there. Were you, were you? If not, YOU were square ;)

At about 8.15 p.m. I reached KY’s pad, and we went to pick up Val. Traffic to Midvalley was surprisingly smooth; maybe because it was still early. The rest had left for Midvalley straight, and they told us where to go to get our tickets etc. Turned out a few of us received media passes, pretty useful when snapping photographs; i.e. not being told to get off the stage unlike normal ticket holders :D

It was pretty quiet at first. The DJ cranked up some dance-able oldies, which was nice. When you are having more fun jumping about to Chubby Checker’s Let Twist Again than Rihanna’s ridiculous ella ella ella (ya I do know the real title of the song), maybe it’s time to order a walking cane.

I went to chill out with Kim for a bit at the registration area. I guess a few people are finding out at the last possible minute that admittance was only for 18 and above. One boy, who was with his family looked at me and we had the following conversation:

Boy: Why under 18 years old not allowed to go in?
Me: But under 18 years old are not allowed to go anywhere!

I don’t think he liked me after that.

Anyway DJ Nesh took over soon after till nearly midnight, with tunes that I do not particularly like. The crowd started to get bigger, and sometimes a few people would get on stage.. a laser light show thingy a.k.a. I don’t know how to explain it…

Some chicks dancing in almost skimpy outfits…

Unfortunately it started raining, and our coveted media area was filled with people avoiding the rain. Being Malaysians, we would hate to get drenched… and fall sick… bla bla bla. But I guess Rachel, Simon and Esther are of a slightly different breed, and they danced in the rain, very happily too!

This photo was taken after the rain stopped… the ones I took of them dancing in the rain didn’t turn out well

At the stroke of midnight, there were screams and they played ‘Auld Lang Syne’, followed by a spectacular fireworks display!

I took a short video of the fireworks, bad sound alert, but it was rather awesome :D

Me, KY, Carol, Rachel and Val left at nearly 1 a.m. Too old already, cannot take it anymore. Yes, even before Stoneface & Terminal came on, which I reckon I’d regret for the rest of my life, but old age beckons. We went to Misai’s for supper, and went home.

So that was how I celebrated NYE ;) What did you do?

    I’m so square I won’t fit in a regular manhole…

Was at my brother-in-law’s parent’s house for bbq. Square hor?

I have a theory that you won’t actually catch a chill if you stand in the rain when you have already warmed up with physical activity. It’s like, marathon runners who get caught in the rain don’t fall sick loh.. so I guess the dancing queens ought to be just fine…

‘a laser light show thingy a.k.a. I don’t know how to explain it…’

Some girl with mirrors on her outfit and sunglasses to stop her getting blinded stood in the lasers and moved. :-)

haha. How can you be old? I’m 42 and I stayed till 3am … and almost went to another party after that. lol You not old la. Just sensible enough to get rest when you feel tired … but, you will regret missing Stoneface and Terminal. They were definitely the best act of the night. Made the others look sick. In fact, backstage I heard one of the people say they were definitely going to try to get them again for next year as they were awesome.
[Now, don't you love me even more for saying that? What? No?]
