tuborg launch @ mardi gras, 1u

Last Friday I was invited to the launch of TUBORG at Mardi Gras @ 1U. Thought I’d blog about it now to take off some of the undue stress caused by the darn slow Maxis customer log-in site. Short story short, I’d opted not to receive printed billing, just thought I’d help save some trees. But the site is unbelievably slow that I feel like yanking off my hair.

Anyway.. Tuborg by Carlsberg has been launched in Malaysia. From what I tasted, it’s slightly less bitter than other readily-available beer. It should appeal to people like FA who doesn’t really enjoy beer (“Fuck this, beer is so bitter, how can ANYONE LIKE IT OMG OMG OMG 1111″) but is sometimes forced to consume it because people around her do.

I guess the part I like best about this Tuborg is how they added a pull-off cap to each bottle. Eliminates the need for a bottle opener, and I wish every other canned or bottled food and drink would have this pull-off cap thing. I don’t like can or bottle openers. I’ve been forced to use them since I was little, especially if mom is busy in the kitchen and needs someone to help her open this or that. Can and bottle openers are the bane of my existence.

Tuborg Malaysia launch - GBC boys
Can’t remember who, and a GBC Boy dancing at the back

The performances were really awesome :D Basically the Carlsberg/ Tuborg people got some boys with six-packs to run around the stage revealing their perfectly-formed assets. All those hours working so hard at the gym… I appreciate them, I do! :D

There was this local group, Gila Battle Crew (GBC) doing all sorts of funky stuff with their hands, legs and head. Michael Yip has a much better shot of them at his blog. They were so rockin’!

There was this Australian dance group, The Next Step who just moved and danced around a lot, incorporating various styles in their performance. I managed to find only one article about them on the Net, here you go.

Also took a short video of their performance. If you want to watch it, I really recommend that you turn your speakers OFF, and just WATCH without sound. Sorry ar, boh lui to buy a more canggih camcorder, hence the seriously distorted sound.

Hehehe, we had fun. At least until the free beer ran out :P

Thanks to Kuan Mei for the invite. Hi to Michael Yip and Eddy Han, as well as this really gorgeous guy that I saw somewhere in the crowd. You be in my dreams.

Tuborg is actually more popular than Carlsberg’s regular beer in Denmark. :p I found that out from all the research I did before going to Copenhagen.

When in Denmark, do as the locals do and buy Tuborg.

Now I can relive my happy days in Copenhagen, whee!

‘ It should appeal to people like FA who doesn’t really enjoy beer (“Fuck this, beer is so bitter, how can ANYONE LIKE IT OMG OMG OMG 1111″) ‘

Beer … looks like p!$$, tastes like p!$$ and is even known as p!$$ in Australia. If it didn’t make the uglies look good enough to lay, I doubt people would drink it. :-)

‘Carlsberg/ Tuborg people got some boys with six-packs to run around the stage ‘

Oh good, so they were handing our beers in six packs!!! :-)

So did you manage to find out that guy’s name you saw in the crowd? Should ask him mah when you saw him in your dreams. :D

Erna: Yeah, the GM of Carlsberg (M) mentioned that Tuborg is actually one of the best selling beers in Europe. Happy you eh ;)

Dabs: That should be every beer marketing tool!

Michael: Well in my dreams, his name was not the only thing he revealed… :D

Dunno la babe, i didn’t even get to try the beer properly cos they ran out of cold ones.
And i just think the event sucked big time.
The beer might not suck but the event was terrible.

It’s like life in Malaysia is one big, long beer fest! With babes, no less.

Joyce: Yah? ST said he spotted your red hair; I went inside the covered place but couldn’t locate you. Hmm… we got our bottled beer straight from the pub. The first one I had while waiting for the noobs was really, really, really cold. After that wasn’t as cold, but wasn’t lukewarm/warm either. Maybe cos we were standing at different places kot?

mad: All alcohol related events come with babes! it’s a given.

    minahsepet : thanks :)

Just a comment about the early part of your post - Maxis’ *&^%$%%%^ slooooowwww server for their website.

A year ago, I made the same decision as you. Save some trees (yeah right! Actual reason was to save that blardy RM5! *LOL*), yada yada. Anyway, the server was taking frigging forever to load ONE SINGLE page that I lost it. Decided to give up trying to get their blardy server to work like other decent servers. So, I opted for the next best thing : Sign up for monthly automated emailing of my Maxis bill. Worked fantastically for me for more than a year.

    Then….

My November bill didn’t pop up in my Inbox on schedule. I decided to try their server again to manually pull out my bill. I thought : “After more than a year, I am sure they would’ve done something about that darn slow server of theirs.”

    Boy, was I soooooo wrong!

I ended up calling their Customer Service call center to tell them how I feel about their ‘urgent’ need to address the complaint I lodged more than 12 months ago about their not-even-fit-for-the-museum server.

I have ZERO hope that they will improve.

If not for the fact that I have been using my Maxis postpaid number/account for dog years now (and am also too frigging lazy to change my number), I would’ve jumped ship a long time ago.

    hey, the performance aint bad.

local ? looks more like guai lo (i dont mean to complain about ur cam corder. im one of the poor ass too. just really a question by it;s face value)

Just wait for number portability, network freedom! Then we can leave shitty maxis.

aeroplane if you read properly there was 2 sets of performers, GBC = local and NextStep = Ozzie.

  12. Suanie, 28. November 2007, 14:57

Eleen: Oh man oh man. and they expect you to pay 20 cents each time you dial 121. I wouldn’t bring it up if my shit gets resolved. Last month I think i called them 5 times or more.

aeroplane: the performance was good :) We were standing right in front of the stage. the local boyz were the ones with painted faces and green kaler tshirts. the ones in the video : the next step, aussie group.

    ST: waaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiitttttttttttttttttiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggg
