ohai, we waz at speedzone tour ‘07 @ zouk kl!

At first I was a tad reluctant to go. I mean, dude, I am 26 years old. The best (or the worst, depends on how you look at it) of my clubbing days are way behind me. Admittedly 26 is not that old for one to hit the clubs; the difference is that I *feel* old. Give me a nice cosy pub with soothing music, good cheap beer and good friends over struggling with almost naked young cikus for standing space anytime. It’s a cardiac arrest and a $200 coffin waiting to happen.

(p/s: I always write the above paragraph whenever I blog about clubbing. It’s a semi-excuse as to why you would see my fat ass out there sometimes)

But then I had the whole haiku contest going on, and the charming PR girl sweetened the deal with a pair of VIP passes… Matt Darey + free-flow alcohol = oh herro! :D

But I am glad I went, if only to see this big sign at one of the counters…

Speedzone Tour 2007 @ Zouk KL - media, lmao!
Do I kembang now or later?

As the Speedzone Tour (Oct ‘07) was held in conjunction with the Motor GP, they had a host of interesting stuff happening at the entrance of Zouk KL. Some monitors set up for you to play clickety games where you win a lighter for your efforts, and a motor racing simulation thing that a couple noobs partook in…

We were in the Zouk main room at about 9.15 p.m. Even though the programme stated that Matt Darey would spin from 9 - 11 pm, there were only like less than 20 people there, so I guess that was why Joey G was still at the deck. Erm, not that he wasn’t any good (okay he wasn’t great but he was far from sucking… in a non-homosexual reference) but the main reason I was there was to check out Matt Darey. I had Point Zero and Upfront Trance (lost them though), thought they were rather awesome and wanted to get a feel of Darey in action.

Then after a while when there were slightly more people in the room, Joey G introduced Matt Darey, and waheyyY!!!11

We had fun, ShaolinTiger and I thought Darey’s set was good, FA didn’t like it too much, I think KY liked it, I don’t know Kim’s thoughts on it.

We left shortly after Seb Fontaine came on. Not my cup of tea :P

Here’s another shot of Matt Darey at work…

… and a 31-seconds video clip of him doing his stuff. My apologies for the real bad sound quality; the main speakers were just beside me and I don’t think the Nokia N95 captures such sounds all that well.

You can check out Matt Darey’s other (better) videos at his YouTube page. Iz teh kool.

  13. As Suanie Sees It » i iz not a piece of blogging meat (Pingback), 2. November 2007, 18:10

[...] These days I receive quite a number of press releases and invites and stuff from assorted people. Sometimes they are from my friends, sometimes it is for a good cause, sometimes I blog about them and sometimes I go have a look at whatever’s happening. And sometimes I don’t, because I just do not have the time for it, or whatever is happening is not happening enough for me. Ms. Chong had to give me VIP passes to coerce me to attend the Speedzone party, heheh. Oh well, to each her own, right? [...]
