selamat menyambut hari merdeka, yay!
Tanggal tiga puluh satuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Bulan lapan lima puluh tujuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
MERDEKA MERDEKA TETAPLAH MERDEKA
Ia pasti menjadi sejarahhhhhhhh!!!!!111111
Man, I was listening to this Sudirman classic while driving home yesterday. Suddenly there was a surge of patriotism clambering in my stomach, and I almost wanted to speed through the LDP with my windows down yelling “MERDEKA MERDEKA MERDEKA I SHALL DECORATE MY TINY CAR WITH MOUNTAINS OF FLAGZ AND YOU SHALT PH33R ME MADE-IN-MALAYSIA KELISA PROWESSSSSSSSSS!!!!111111″
Temporary insanity aside, the Sudirman song was sung with so much happiness and pride that it was child-like naivety. For 2 minutes and 44 seconds, you forget about the current governance. Instead you are transported to a place of lollis and rainbows, with the Tunku standing on a platform with his hand raised in the air, a pure moment of joy, honour and dignity proclaiming that this beloved country has officially reached independence. No more penjajah asing, he promised, you are on your own now, we now steer the country by ourselves, tiga bangsa dan lain-lain.
Don’t know why I am emo about it. I love Malaysia, and I love her dearly. And I don’t give a crap about overzealous goblok(s) yang tak berpelajaran who pollute her with selfish political ambitions. Kalau you tak suka, you keluarlah dari negara ini. Jangan pula kena hempak pintu kat sana tu…
Hah, for the first time in three years, I’m actually in Malaysia for Merdeka.
For something more sombre:
Bonda senyum riang
Menerima bahtera merdeka
Putra putri sayang
Putra putri sayang
Sedang berjuang
Fajar telah tiba
Nan menyinsing membawa harapan
Tanah Semenanjung
Tanah Semenanjung
Permata nilam
Jiwa dan raga
Buktikanlah pada nusa bangsa
Supaya negara maju jaya
Aman merdeka
Duhai ibu pertiwi
Putra putri datang sujud bakti
Ingin menunaikan
Ingin menunaikan
Sumpah dan janji
Merdeka !
Merdeka !
Merdeka !
Merdeka !
Merdeka !
Merdeka !
Merdeka !

Woit, happy holiday! Am happy to be away from office and got time to read blogs!
Happy Merdeka. My annual Malaysian post is now up. I’ve probably butchered the Malay language [BM] once again … but, what can I say, it’s like a second language to me.
Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka! Greeting from Abu Dhabi
Happy, happy independence day!
Happy merdeka!! hope there’s a brighter and better future for all of us!!
