I was over at Singapore last weekend as well. My cousin bought roti canai for one of the breakfasts we had. They are slightly oiler than the ones we have but crispier. Also, smaller. Haha. I was at the two places in the second and third photo you took. There are statues of a group of boys stripping and jumping into the river behind you.

the best food in singapore is found in the heartland. er.. so-called 'heartland'. and being so small, singapore's heartland could be anywhere, depending on your preference. :p

i've not been back for.. a long time *sobs* but you can still find a few nice, old kopitiams along the old woodlands rd, and if u're willing to go to ulu pandan or hang around ol skool sembawang, got some nice places still.

untouched by tourists. ahem.

See, now you can empathize with me for sure - about the sux0r 'mamak' food here. I'm so gonna go to Krishna on Jalan Gasing when I get back, and educate my Pinoy roommate about the difference between 'canai' and 'prata'. And real Ampang Yong Tau Foo. And good nyonya nasi lemak. And black hokkien noodles.
