Lots more photos than words these days, kan? Here’s another one…

Last Friday we were invited by to the official launch of The Borneo Rainforest Café at Sunway. Actually Sultan Muzaffar was the invited one, and he was given some slots for additional bloggers, and he invited us. So nice and generous

The Borneo Rainforest Café is the brainchild of Datin Seri Tiara Jacqueline. According to some news clippings that were displayed there, apparently it’s a collaboration with David Teo, but now I can’t seem to locate any references to it. The restaurant/ cafe is located directly opposite the Sunway Sunway Hotel & Spa along Persiaraan Lagoon, just in front of an open space parking lot.

The place was rather easy to find, and the decor was mostly wood and trees and other greens… Tables were set al fresco-style. There were soft toys in the shape of beruks hugging the wooden pillars. Quite cute.

Me and KY were among the first to arrive. After signing in, we saw Asyraf and Stephanie, and chatted with them for a bit. The boys were talking about their massive equipment (i.e. cameras) while I tahan lapar by sipping drinks.

Sultan Muzaffar arrived not long later, so camwhore a bit first…

After a while, TV Smith and Leen arrived. But the VIPs had not, so we couldn’t touch the food The aroma of whatever was cooking was tormenting me for one full hour…

A few minutes after 9 p.m., the guests of honour, or rather the owners arrived at the scene to much paparazzi shots…

At that time I was one footstep away from dying of hunger, so I did not join the peps up front for the official launch. Apparently there were fireworks, traditional dances, speeches… which I am sure is all very good…

Finally we could eat, yay! It was buffet style, so being Malaysians, you know lah… The menu was mostly Malaysian with food like nasi dagang, nasi kerabu, otak otak, char kuey teow, nasi lemak, mee hailam, umai, laksa Sarawak… Some not-so-Malaysian stuff are available as well, such as grilled crab, lamb chops, baked cheesy oysters, this and that pasta…

TV Smith got Tiara Jacquelina to our table for a mini interview. She was nice, warm and enthusiastic. According to her, there would be 8 stalls selling over 100 types of food. She had a big hand in deciding the menu, mostly stuff that she loves to eat. Patrons would order from the menu and receive 5-star service. Undoubtedly the service was rather good on the evening of the launch. If they could maintain the level of service that we received, I am sure they would have returning customers.

If you are around the area, can go there santap lah. The Borneo Rainforest Cafe opens only for dinner, prices start from RM5. Have fun.

When we were at VivoCity in Singapore, we passed by a Carl’s Jr outlet. Captivated by the glitzy advertisement of big burgers with fresh lettuce, tomatoes and awesomely massive chunks of beef patty, I wanted to have a go at the burger. But Pinky reminded me that we just had lunch, so unfortunately I had to give it a miss

The buzz was that Carl’s Jr reopened an outlet in Malaysia. Apparently they had one in the bird park (there is a bird park in KL?!) but it closed down. The new outlet was to be in 1 Utama, where everything is under one roof and it’s a pain to walk around because it’s so freakin’ huge that you lose track of what you want and begin to wander aimlessly bla bla bla bla bla.

Spongefox wanted to have dinner there. Since I already had dinner, I chose to accompany him because I wanted to see for myself this Carl’s Jr burger thing. I’d heard that it was not cheap, so I wanted to find out how much, and if it would be worth it, etc.

Erm, I was a tad surprised at the prices. Maybe I shouldn’t have been, but it is surprising to see burgers being sold at RM15++ to RM 25++ in a place very much resembling a fast food outlet. Later at home I read up a bit on Carl’s Jr, and they want you to know that their burgers are of the same quality as in a sit-down restaurant. Okay, but American Chili’s burgers are still slightly cheaper lor… damn you currency exchange rate.

I think Spongefox had the Guacamole Bacon something or the other, plus a large drink, plus a serving of fries with cheese and (Mexican) chili. Cost him about RM30 with a bit of change, I think? He said it was worth it though, as he is a Carl’s Jr fan, and the outlet in 1U eliminates a reason to go to Singapore…

Samuel L. Jackson would have said, “Uhmmmm, this is a tasty burger!”

Unfortunately (for me), porker bacon is not available in the Carl’s Jr in Malaysia. You would have to make do with chicky bacon, and I doubt it would be as nice because the porker by default has more fat than the chicky, hence making the porker bacon more delicious by the Chinese standards. Spongefox loved it though.

Why is Mexican chili not spicy?

The fries wasn’t so good. Cold and… lifeless? You know like how McD fries, when served piping hot is like so full of life and you bite into them and they taste so good and all that? Oh well. Adjectives fail me atm. On the feedback form, Spongefox suggested that they do something about their freedom fries.

But overall, Spongefox was happy. Good, we like a happy Spongefox! At one point he exclaimed, “if my life was a corny song, right now it would be Benny Benassi’s Satisfaction.”

Uh-uh. By the way, Ramly burgers are only RM3 each, semua taruh.

It’s Monday!!!!!!!!!!!1111111 Rained last night, I suppose it’s still raining now… haven’t rained in the mornings for so long… quite nice… Not really sleepy ‘cos I slept shit loads yesterday, and I am fueled by Nescafe ais kurang manis!

Bro-in-law belanja-ed dinner at a place selling Italian food yesterday. Ryan was quite disgusting — he dumped all his pieces of bread into his glass of water, then dished them out and swallowed the soggy bread. Ewww! I am glad I am no longer a kid

It just struck me how funny it is that Facebook decides if I am friends with someone. Say you just added someone to your Facebook, the notification says, “You are now friends with So-and-So”. I guess the past few years of being friends with that someone just don’t count.

Briefly glanced through the Malay papers today and read that BBC kena fucked. Something about false reporting.

And here’s a shoutout to Kim… I WANT A FREE TICKET TO GO WATCH SIMPLY ACTORS!!!!!1111111 Why? Because I am a sucker for free stuff, and I love comedies, because I consider myself as partly comic (though other people wouldn’t), and I think I am funny, and I would like to see how other people translate their funny-ness to the big screen, and did I mention that I love freebies?!?

Pinky showed me something really cool the other day: Burger King’s Simpsonize Me site!

Basically you submit a large, highly contrasted photo of yourself, to see what you look like as a Simpson (sort of anyway).

I tried to upload a couple of photos but they didn’t work, and finally my 3rd photo was accepted, and…

Bwahahahaha!! Pretty cool eh? Rather accurate I think, what with the glasses, hair and no chin…

A couple days ago, we were at The Sanctuary at The Curve to celebrate Smirnoff’s launch of two new flavours — green apple and vanilla. It was happening, it was FUN, here are some photos and bits and bobs.

I reached The Sanctuary about 8.20 pm, and there was a line of invited guests waiting to go in. Then one of the organisers saw me, and I was whisked to the Media/Bloggers registration counter. Heheh, what perks

I went straight to the table where Kelvin was already seated. He was accompanied with a guy who won the contest by Coconuts. Sorry can’t remember your name dude, but he was friendly and nice, a bit quiet because apparently this was his first time going to ’something like this’. Har, no clubbing before? Not really.. heh good luck in Netherlands dude!

Later ShaolinTiger arrived, and JoeyG took the stage and said some stuff, then there was really good music spinning…

After a while, we were whisked into the Ice Bar (where the temperature was -15 degree celcius but no wind, thank goodness) to sample the different Smirnoff flavours…
