rum jungle fun and pix
I don’t know, I’m not just a clubbing/ party person anymore. When I first came to KL a few years ago, I used to go out with J&J and my sisters all the friggin’ time. At least 3 nights a week for more than a year? That was then, this is now. These days I’d rather stay at home and play RotMK (craps, now you all know what I do at home!). Even if we go drinking, I’d prefer some place cheap and not so noisy (i.e. Bar Ceylon).
Actually the present me reminds me of Jaime back then. She used to want to go to pubs and have a quiet beer while chatting with friends. I used to think that was the most boring thing to do. I mean, you are out! Let’s go clubbing, paint the town red hot chili red, give me the loud booming music DUM DUM DUM DUM DUM!
Nowadays I have better music in my storage. The last time I went to a clubbing joint was during Faieza’s birthday where we met the cheapskate. Last week, AdrianPinoy sent out a mass e-mail asking us to go out, and for some reason I felt like going out, so on Saturday night we went to Rum Jungle.
I mean, the reason this is so bloggable is because I probably won’t go clubbing again for the next few months. Plus AdrianPinoy took some photos, and I want to update my blog

This used to be enjoyable; now I get slightly claustrophobic
Back in the days, I used to like RJ because they always had awesome bands. Turns out they still do! The night we went, there was this really awesome African band; they sang all songs of all languages! Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Zainal Abidin’s Hijau (which sounds eerily similar to Bob Marley’s No Woman No Cry) and a Beyond tune. Awesome beyond words!

We thought the keyboardist was the most awesome of all; he was a really good singer, and basically quite fun lah!

So we camwhored with him lor
After the band were done, a couple of dancers went up an elevated platform and started to move their bodies and to feed people vodka shots. The chick in the photo below was rather hot (in the dark) and could really move.

But one thing I dislike about most general clubs, applicable to Beach and Thai clubs and Rum Jungle. After 12 or 1 a.m. they would start to spin really horrible and out-of-date trance tracks. Dudes, I can do a lot better on Winamp.
By the way, what happened to Bliss @ 12SI? What happened to 12SI in general?? Bliss used to be my favourite club because they played really good house numbers. You could also see Chef Wan in his tight red top and sunglasses moving his booty
Anyway, here’s half us lot…

And one for the camera…
My hair looked like a train wreck in that one. Whatever
Hah! This post is written like a kid from a small town with a computer and Internet connection let loose in the big city

Nice quiet pubs for talking is better than noisey dance clubs where someone says something to you,and you go ‘What?’ and they reply, and you go ‘What?’ and they reply … ad infinitum.
Eventually you get outside and you find out the first thing they said was, ‘Did you say something to me?’ and you of course had replied , ‘What?’ and they replied, ‘What?’ and you realise you spent ten minutes standing there saying ‘What?’ to each other all because they thought you’d said something to begin with.
Of course, at my age that can happen in a quiet room … ‘What?’ No that it matters, at my age I’d have forgotten anything you said within ten minutes.
Bliss was supposed to cater for the gay community in town, however, ever after la queen (bside thai club) open, liquid bar and bliss lost their shine.
gosh, you’re only 25 and you have grown tired of clubbing? so what will you do when you become 30? crochet the whole day while watching tele-novelas? hehehe, kidding!
im starting to get tired of clubbing also. once or twice in two months, not bad lah!
’til the next gimmick!
huh, where the hell is queen? beside thai club? mana ada?
yeah bliss is nice, house music, but i whats with gay and house music? house music for gays only? thats a very bad perception, just that they hang around there only … atmos went bankrupt – lost the crowd after the other clubs opened …
house music? go to aloha on weekdays, before 12, loft, cynna, maison(progressive house)…
Rum Jungle, Beach Club, Thai Club and Aloha oddly sound similar in concept. Blech. Kinda prefer Sanctuary these days…the old clubbing habit’s making a comeback…
Leng lui, I should have followed you! The last clubbing I did was indeed my birthday bash! I guess the next time I’ll go with you la then… but at least not until after June, hehe. Me going to Bali… have to save save save! Wanna party in Bali. *grinning*
Eh Daniel, I like Sanctuary too. Plus it is very convenient for me to go, haha… so near. And yes… I went there once and the music they played brought me back all the way to the good ol times! But after 12am, the music kinda suck, very techno kinda DUM DUM DUM. Just not my cup of tea… headache liow!
Ha, wait till you get really old. You’ll be going, “I used to do THAT?”
I went through the same phase too.. there was a time when every Saturday night would mean a visit to a nosy smoky crowded and dark place either around Sultan Ismail or Jalan Ma’arof. It sort of faded away for me at the same age as for you..
5 YEARS AGO: i am a Hard Rock chika. love to get wasted. i think that every song spun or played by the band is meant *just* for me. i launch into a series of laughter and tears. how my frens hate me.
FAST-FWD TO NOW: i like watching jazz bands. smoky clubs give me the shivers. The Social has a good jazz band on Sat nites. yea i’ve mellowed.
but hey what’s wrong with YOU? are u 30 too? heh heh
your hair is not any worse than mine, don’t complain.
