A quick question to those who claim for mileage — do you claim for everything or do you make concessions? For example, you are supposed to go to Point A. However let’s say you are quite teh noob when it comes to .. uhm getting around. You end up in Point B, Point C, or even Point D before somehow managing to get to Point A.
In cases like the above, do you claim for Point A to Point D, or do you claim only for getting to and back from Point A? I am rather curious at how other people do it. For myself, I shave off the ‘getting lost’ part because I think it’s my and not the company’s problem if I don’t know the way? Someone change my perception?
By the way, the place I hate to go to the most is Glenmarie. Never could get it right.

A quick question to those in the know — how do you KNOW how many people watch a specific TV show at a specific time on a specific channel? People like me channel-surf all the time, so how do you keep track to provide stats and figures to sell ad airtime at high or low prices? I’ve always always always wondered about this.

June Tan needs help from bloggers and blog readers for her Master thesis, titled “Is blogging and effective tool for democratizing Malaysia?” In as much as I hate to have ‘z’ instead of ’s’ in demoratising, that’s her chosen spelling and she’s a really nice girl, so click here to answer a few questions.

I’ve seen this on PPS a few times already, but I first watched it when Seb forwarded the URL to me in October. No harm in spreading the word, though I suppose most of us already know to death that models are air-brushed all the time. Seeing models and stars in real life and on print are two different matters. Trust meh

Thank you Suanie! me love you long time too! muaks!
i want real life photoshopping kthx!
Hehe I suppose I fall under “pimpage”. Thanks for the link!
Suan,
For your 1st question, be honest. If you feel guilty claiming for going to point B, C, D, etc., then don’t do it. Listen to your conscience.
In my previous company (I was doing sales), I made sure that the company paid for the thick Klang Valley Street Directory that I bought, or else I’d include the mileage for getting lost.
My company has mileage rates in a from:destination fashion. eg:
Office:Town:Office : RM5
Office:Location X:Office : RM10
Office:Location Y:Office : RM15
The suckiest thing is, if I were to go to Location X late in the afternoon and go back home straight after that, I can only claim RM5 because it’s only half the claim cycle!
The thing that pisses me off about this is that I live within 5 minutes driving range from the office, so it IS essentially a complete claim cycle.
However, I don’t need to do much driving anyways.
Suan
Am not local, i dont drive either in KL the motor bikes just scares the hell out of me :), it simple for me i take a taxi and tell him where i want to go, whatever charges reflected on the meter is what i claim back.
for TV :
For those unfamiliar with the TV industry, there are two basic measures of audience - share and ratings. Ratings show the percentage of all television sets in the market tuned to a given program (including those in use and those that are turned off). Share tells us the percentage of television sets in use at a given time that are tuned to each program - or something akin to market share. Stations use ratings to set prices for advertisers; share allows stations to see how they’re performing relative to the available competition.
Suan, most company has a fixed distance already to certain points, you can go to point b,c,d and even z, but you will be paid from only a to d. the former advert company i worked with has the distance calculated…so, if i detour, too bad!
good to know yvonne’s surgery went well! I wish her speedy recovery!
I think the TV folks measure from Point A to Point Z with all the points in between. Sort of the way I do my mileage. My expense reports are the best fiction evah!
I’ll just put in the milleage where I went - most companies like the above mentioned already got ‘em calculated.
i’m sorry if i don’t know the shortest route maaaa.hmm grr
Pinky: enjoy your ipod, that i didn’t give you
FA: real time adobe photoshop is so cool
june: np!
Dean: i did
Azmeen: awww that’s sucky. lucky my company rox. hi boss!
lucifer: Thanks for the useful info! i think i’ll try to read up more on this, tv fascinates me since i am now a tv addict!
stupe: aye, sounds logical if you all go to a place often enough.
mad: best selling list omg!
reta: haha yeah i found out things the hard way too.. then i just measure the distance from where i left the place, and double it lor. i can never get to anywhere, but i can come back just fine
I used to do like what u do.
Going to A from B but ended up passing by C and D. I would absorb the cost.
However, now that I am so clever. I would plan my route before I leave from the office. So, it ended up no more extra milage.
It al differ from one company management with another company management. It’s all depend on hte management. Should consult with your immediate superior/manager before write any claimant.
will safe you plenty of guessing & trouble (lies ahead).
