the red kebaya

Fireangel: Your baju not red also. Not even a kebaya!

Ramli Hassan: You don’t really look like an angel on fire also what!!!

Fireangel: I scare arts people…
Suanie: Ya, let’s go lah ‘cos it is painfully obvious by now that I suck at writing fake dialogue.
Anyway last Thursday we received an invitation from TV Smith (via superfabulous Daniel of Addaudio) to attend a ‘buka puasa’ dinner with the cast and crew of The Red Kebaya.
It was at some place called ‘Red Ginger’ along Jln. Yap Kwan Seng, we had a hell of a time trying to locate it
Sultan Muzaffar was there of course. I mean, this guy gets to EVERYWHERE!!! He’s also one of the firsts to watch Sepet, Gubra, Mushkin and gets invited to so many events and premieres… jeles I tengok…
There were other bloggers present as well; I looked through the name list and recognised Nizam Zakaria’s name. I had no idea of what he looked like though… but if anyone reading this was one of the guys who said ‘bye’ to me when I was outside, HIYA
Synopsis of ‘The Red Kebaya’:
Latiff, a famous but lonely photographer was orphaned as a small child. He sets out on an expedition to photograph abandoned houses around Malaysia. On his journey, he is haunted by images and sounds that remind him of his traumatic childhood. At one particular house on the island of Penang, Latiff is magically transported back over 50 years to witness the shocking events that occured there.
Through his experience, Latiff comes to understand the significance of the Red Kebaya, a traditional Malay outfit, and the tragic circumstances that led to him being orphaned.
We were shown a compilation clip of the movie. How was it? Well let me put it this way: I get invited to the technical premiere (held in the morning), I will apply for leave from work to attend the premiere
(BIG MASSIVE HINT HERRO!!!)
Latiff is played by Ramli Hassan, who is also one of the producers of this movie. The lovely lady gracing the poster is Vanidah Imran, damn hot and seductive until nose bleed. Other actors/actresses: Bob Mercer, Samantha Schubert, Paula Malai Ali, Patrick Teoh, Elaine Daly, Jo Kukathas dan lain lain.
The Red Kebaya is delivered in English (85% of the movie) and Bahasa Malaysia. It is set to open in Malaysia cinemas on the 23 November 2006.
I will probably write more about it later on. But let me just say that if the clips we saw was any indication of what the movie will be, then I really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really CAN’T WAITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vanidah so hot until can die.
Been pretty intrigued by the movie since Oliver (the director) emailed me the official site months ago.
…and hence there should be more pics on Vanida, the ‘acclaimed HOT actress. Curves ahead!
Swifty: Oliver Knott was v. nice. He’s from Oz so you’d have heard of him
mob1900: well for now you can feast your eyes on the photos of her above (the one to Ramli Hassan’s right). She was also in ‘Wangi Jadi Saksi’, so maybe you can google for her photos?
I guess no kung fu huh.
Saw the trailer in the cinema recently and seems very intriguing. Will definately be on my list of movies to look out for. Now I know what celebrity bloggers say to celebrity stars… hahaha
Whats up with Fireangel & her choice of tops. She looks like a real gran in that top & brown pants. Pls Accept this as an honest criticsm as I mean no malice on my part becos she looks good in her work clothes. But when she goes all casual, it all goes horribly wrong!
Hello Johnny,
Those were my working clothes by the way.
I accept your criticism. Suanie and many of my other friends share the same opinion too. I can’t help it if I have zero fashion sense!
So anybody out there wants to be my stylist? For free? Kthx.
That’s some guffaw, Suanie! (pic 2)
mad: could have the malay version, that is silat
changeiam: fake conversation you mean
normally we just hug them damn kau hard until dont want to let go, esp if they are hot
johnny: that is her working clothes la… when you have to wear office clothes every day, 5 times a week, four weeks a month, 12 months a year… you get out of ideas fast esp if u are a girl.
Suertes: actually in that one, Ramli Hassan was saying something about ‘punggung’
my god. that looks like one of the tops my mom tried to force me to wear claiming i’m too prudish to try new things.
YUCK YUCK PTOOI. i’m glad now i never gave in to her ’suggestions’.
Panggang punggung?
Engko punye?
Ambo punye?
Haha! Suanie dressed better than FA this time. Yay, Suanie. Boo, FA.
sounds like a good M’sia movie that is NOT about Mats on Bikes…
