Atkins- good for weight loss but bad for the heart.
And you'll need more than 2 weeks. Generally, anyone who boasts of weight loss in days is really talking about dehydration. It's medically not plausible to be burning and losing fat in days.
Good luck. At least it's not a 2 year commitment with hardware in your mouth :P

Contrary to popular belief, Atkins, a cardiologist wasn’t the inventor of the low-carb diet, in fact it is based on an earlier research paper published in the 50/60s’ on ketonism (ketones).

It’s controversial because the American government for the longest times had advocated hi-carb diet through the popular food pyramid due to excess grains produced by farmers; the hi-carb concept was and is still deeply ingrained in the public as well as the medical establishments.

It does trim off fat exceedingly faster than other diets known on earth, and most surprising to the medical establishments was the lowering of triglyceride as well. AMA dismissed the idea for 2 decades and finally in 2003 published an article concurring with Atkins.

The real danger is misreading what Atkins’s diet is about; it does include lots of greens and fruits and exercise.

Good luck.

i read this somewhere:

NUTRITION
Guzzle -- don't sip -- water: Downing big gulps cues your body to get it into the system faster.

To lose weight, drink cold water. Your body has to expend extra calories to heat up the H2O in your stomach, resulting in a rise in your resting metabolic rate. In fact, in a 2003 German study researchers estimated that drinking two additional icy quarts a day would help you burn about 100 extra calories -- or the equivalent of a pound of fat every five weeks -- with no other changes in exercise or diet.

i am so trying it! i have been doing it all wrong by drinking warm water, and sipping it little by little, chey!

Why waste all that money on food and then burn it all off so quickly at the gym. Definitely rich person's syndrome. :-(

<i>'...and my coffee was sugar-free (I like it bitter).'</i>

I arrive late, and still no one has added the 'just like her men' joke. Shame on all of you! :-)

Anyway Suanie, just keep going. Do what you think will work. What works for some won't work for others. I trust you have a brain and know how to use it.

YOU CAN DO IT!
GO SUAN!
YOU CAN DO IT!
[Hmmm, I wonder if I'm the fattest cheerleader in Perth at this moment?]

1. atkins/high protien diet doesn't work.

2. it's better to exercise at least 30 minutes a day, 3 times a week. try to target for heartrate of at least 60% of your max heart rate to burn fat.

3. never ever skip breakfast, it's the most important meal of the day. having said that, it doesn't mean you can gobble down all the nasi lemak or roti canai you can lay your hand on.

4. drink more water, it help the body detox...aim for 2 liter to start with and move on to about 3 a day.

5. skip caffiene. It acts as diuretic and it may just make your metabolism plateau.

need more tips?
