pimping blogathon 2006

… or more specifically, our do-gooders involved in it this year.

What is a Blogathon? Think walkathon where people walk, jogathon where people jog — you get the idea.

On July 29th (that is tomorrow, officially tonight at 12 am) bloggers around the world will participate in a 24-hour blogging-frenzy, all in the name of charity. Our fellow Malaysians blogging this year are:

(List copied and pasted from LiewCF, hehe)

Do go support them and pledge a donation for their worthy causes! Malaysia boleh, Malaysian bloggers lagi boleh!

(Pledge already must pay up k. Don’t pledge main2 saja)

If you are wondering, no I am not doing it this year. But let me know if there’s a Beerathon coming up. I’ll be more than happy to drink for 24 hours. Hey, it’s all for charity, you know.

just a note to let you know

… that this is an update.

my mother went to hong kong…

… and all I got was this battery-operated mini pseudo-fish tank.

aqua-garden

I’m sure there is a proper name for it, but right now it is 4 a.m. and I’m woozy. Woosh, woosh.

Definitely cute.

weekend notes

Feeling quite under the weather. Woozy woosh woosh.

Still at my sister’s place. Got a bit paranoid earlier when a guy claiming to be from the management rang the doorbell asking if everything is all right, because ‘our yard door is open’. Like, huh? Didn’t know that the management makes rounds now confirming that yes, we indeed chose to have the yard door open, which incidentally is a small ‘outdoor’ area where the washing machine is, surrounded by solid grills. Sounds sneaky to me.

Opened the door to let the breeze in and saw another guy sort of lurking around the floor. He looked at me, I looked at him, he walked to the elevator, I looked at him still, and he came over and asked something about if I lived there, I said yes, he grinned and muttered something and went to catch the elevator. So I rang the neighbour’s doorbell, a half naked man came out and I told him to lock his doors as there were suspicious people around.

This is a security-guarded area. I know that doesn’t say much these days, but you can’t get into the apartment blocks without a pass card. Hmmmmmmmm………. nowhere is safe nowadays.

Saw a bit of TV where there was a programme with Fei Yu Ching, and his guest was Pan Mei Chen. That brings back memories. She was my sister’s favourite singer when my sister was in high school. I remember that I saved for a bit and bought her a Pan Mei Chen cassette and she was so happy and touched. Pan Mei Chen was (and still is) this boyish Taiwanese singer with a tad of a rockish look, leather and all. She always sang of unrequited love, the really emo stuff. I am still wondering if she is a lesbian.

Mom is coming back from HKG today, yay! Home-cooked food again, YEAY!

Pickled bamboo shoots to go with white porridge is the best thing evar.

Got a tad cheesed off with incessant innuendos that the MoNSTers are a bunch of sheep or cows or goats or whatever George Orwell implied and that if you have a certain amount of hits to your blog, you are unwittingly obliged to blog about every single happening there is that cries media injustice and partiality and everything else that follows. I don’t even know how to begin to refute these notions that come with self-serving expectations, that are particularly loud especially now that we are kinda associated with a major newspapers. Oh right, the squealer.

And I guess it doesn’t make a difference that most of us do not write much socio/political observations and analysis to begin with, even way before the MoNSTer deal.

Of course we talk about stuff like the UPM incident among friends and family, but I suppose that doesn’t really count since it is not in black and white on blog.

I’m not that cheesed off now, it’s been a few hours, would have written more on this ‘conflict of interest’, perhaps give a proper explanation and rebuttal but I guess I won’t, simply for the same reason that I don’t blog about any other stuff — because I don’t feel like it.

And seeing that this URL and the slice on the server where this blog is hosted are invariably mine, that’s my call, innit? :)

i am a wtf monster

Burp.

Okay, it’s a collaborative effort between NST (News Straits Times), JARING and a few bloggers to take blogging to the next step. I don’t know what that means, but it sure sounds good. Don’t mind me, I just invented that sentence out of nowhere.
