Students sue over teaching in English

KUALA LUMPUR: Four students have filed a suit against the Government over its policy to teach Science and Mathematics in English.

The students - Mohammad Syawwaal Mohammad Nizar, Mohammad Fadzil Nor Mohd Rosni, Nur Najihah Muhaimin and Syazaira Arham Yahya Ariff - are seeking to declare two circulars on the execution of the policy dated Nov 27, 2002, unconstitutional, null and void, and of no effect. [...]

If they’d spent more time revising their studies instead of thinking of ways to sue the gomen…

We should be proud of our national language, but we should also be realistic. [insert all the reasons why Science and Maths should be taught in English if our people wish to pursue their education in these two languages in other countries who... let me see... publish their texts and research results in ENGLISH]

Kids these days… I tell you… kurang ajar betul.

Sikit-sikit nak sue. The parents ah…sigh. The thing about them is, they leave the responsibility of teaching their kids to the government but when something don’t go their way, they blame them. Dahlah no time to spend with their kids, wanna blame others pulak. Ridiculous.

They will thank the government for having the 2 subjects in English. At least bila masuk college, they won’t be lost.

bloody hell, i agree the kids are just puppets. the real idiots pursuing the matter are the fathers.

imagine all the shame those kids are going through while their egoistic dads fight a losing battle.

they should sue the politicians who last revered the teaching media from English to Malay. they are the culprits who breed those 4 idiots and many more

Teach it in ancient Greek and Latin like the good old days! Like Aristotle did when I was a lad … um … er … ah … I think I’m old …

its the parents i tell u! Parents!

Really ridiculous we may feel, some people must look beyond language as a true determinant of who we are. Speaking english doesn’t make one less malay or less malaysian.

it’s te bloody adults who wish to use the courts to pursue what’s claerly a “issue”n to be dealt with in the politicall realm.

THat’s what’s the core problem wit the Malaysian system — highly racialised and politicised, and no solutions in sight because there is no sincere, visionary leadership in the present team.

For the future, pray very hard there will be less such “adults” among us pushing their children into their adult battles!

Those students are merely pursuing the political agenda of “their parents”?

Suanie, probably their England is powderful ma, you offer to provide them England tutoring service lor, drop the court case and request them to pay you whatever lawyer fees spent.

Don’t you think that this is a win-win solution for you and the gov.? :D

I always thought this kind of “anything-also-can-sue” thing only happens in America. Malaysia also have ah? Not bad.
