    Looks like they are corrupting the word ANIME the same way a lot of American’s corrupted OTOKU to mean an Anime fan, when the word has bad connotations in Japan for people who are basically shut ins and hikikomori (socially detached). The reputation of Otoku’s became bad when one slashed some little girls up for not havin perfect skin like the ones in cartoons … but inspite of the BAD meaning, the US adopted the word and use it as something good!

    Oh, and Hentai just means pervert … it isn’t always meant in a bad way either … not as bad as Chikan anyway!!!
    Some of my Japanese friends have used Hentai to just mean they like porn … (Thus the category of Porn anime being hentai anime).

    I always liked the bit in the Japanese movie ‘Weather Woman’ when they send one of the reporters out to do a show called ‘Hello Mr Pervert’
