the drugs don’t work

When I was younger, a visit to the doctor cost RM10. Then it gradually became RM12, then RM15, then RM18, RM20 etc.

I just paid RM50 for a less than 5 minutes consultation with a n00b doctor. And…

THE DRUGS DON’T WORK!!!!!

The right side of my face is swelling up like a pregnant elephant. The inside of my ear is massively swollen. The pain is like sudden electric jolts and it is quite fucking me up.

I CAN’T SLEEP.

I CAN’T EAT.

I CAN’T CONCENTRATE.

I CAN’T WORK.

Sometimes I can’t even walk properly.

THE DRUGS DON’T WORK!!!!!

Just two nights ago I woke up suddenly in the middle of the night and contemplated on certain moral issues.

The justification was that the flesh pain would contra off the incredible pain at the ear.

Then when I was able to wake up properly, I downed a couple of Uphamol instead.

Which is what I am going to do now.

Because..

THE FUCKING PAINKILLERS THAT THE N00B DOCTOR PROMISED ME IS BETTER THAN UPHAMOL DON’T FUCKING WORK!!!!!

I hate liars, especially if they are doctors.

IT HURTS US AND WE HATES THEMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!

That hurts.. one of the reason why I won’t go to see doctors even if really sick.. I don’t trust most of them anymore.

Take care and get well soon.

dont take so many painkillers.. they stay in your body for 5 years and kill your kidneys. dr prob gave you ibuprofen (the green ones) coz they dont cause gastric.. but i find them useless AND they give me gastric… ponstan very good but damn sure give you stomach ulcer if you’re already prone to gastric. uphamol still the best (for headaches) but panadol is good for overall pain.. the shocking pink mentrual panadols WORKS… but dont take so much panadol they kill you… and wtf is wrong with you. if your face swells up like elephant dont you think your sis shouldn’t have to find out on your blardy blog.. like the blardy break in ffs…..

mum says best to rely on your own body and not painkillers.

    hey Suanie

Yeah, I too am wondering what’s wrong? Faces don’t go swelling by themselves.

    Allergic reaction?

As for me, ponstan works best. Profen, nope, I’m allergic to those.

Wish you get well soon so that you can go to KY’s party ;P

donno.. the lymph nodes at my armpit and neck (ear) area are swollen a lot

  12. Quack Doctor, 21. December 2005, 13:28

    Dear Suanie,
You are definately having some sort of inflamatory reaction especially if the lymph nodes are swollen. It could be cause by virus, bacteria or hypersensitivity. Pain killer would not work. Go see another GP for referal. Bring along your medication what the current doctor prescribe to you.

To all others (I don’t mean to flame) unless you are medical doctor, don’t give advise on what medication to take or skip. It is just pure dangerous. Imagine Suanie follows it and something serious does happen. Are you going to be responsible?

The Doctor has obviously decided it was caused by a virus. Take whatever pain killer works best for you and drink LOTS OF FLUIDS, preferably WATER NOT ALCOHOL, it dehydrtates. WATER WATER WATER!!!

The Immune system will take care of the virus (as medication can’t as viruses like to hide in cells and stuff)
If it was bacterial, the Doctor would have given you some sort of penicillin or anti-biotic to get rid of it … so the Doc has obviously decided it isn’t bacterial.

As other’s have suggested, might be allergic reaction - in which case, the Doc would have given you Anti-histamines to counter them … but he hasn’t, so he obviously doesn’t think it is allergy, but it still might (if it is a mis diagnosis) - in whcih case, avoid whatever you are allergic too, and drink plenty of water, and IF YOU ARE SURE it is an llergic reaction, try some sort fo over the counter Anti-Histamine which will work.

Personally, I’ve had that sort of allergic reaction, so is highly likely, but if you are NOT the hyperallergic sort, then is most likely the Virus (which is what I am betting on … especially with the reaction being lymph nodes in armpit and neck).

So, I’d place my bet with the Doctor’s diagnosis - Viral - so take pain killers, rest and LOTS OF WATER to help flush the system, and let your immune system take care of the rest.

Get a funny video out (laugher helps heal us quicker) and sit down in front of TV, watch, laugh, rest and DRINK LOTS.

p.s. I am not a Doctor and this is just friendly advice, see a Doctor if it continues as if it isn’t Viral or allergic, then might be something more serious like Hodgekins. But, let’s hope it isn’t.

I’ll pray for your recovery. (For whatever good that might do).

KY - my comments don’t cure pain … just cause brain numbness. :-)

  20. Kenny Lee, 21. December 2005, 19:45

sometimes it doesn’t take a lot of pills to heal.
It just takes time to recover.
    bear wif it, gal.

  21. Dabido(Teflon), 21. December 2005, 20:15

Suanie - awww, terima kasih! rofl. :-)

  22. Vagus, 21. December 2005, 20:41

actually. if half your face is swollen… one wonders if you got a skin bacterial infection, like cellulitis or erysipelas.
sounds like you might need antibiotics. ?Diclox or Keflex.
    get well soon.

  23. Suanie, 22. December 2005, 0:20

My antibiotic is Enhancin 625mg (co-amoxiclav tablets), the ear block sensation medicine is called Altiva 120 (fexofenadine hydrochloride) and the painkiller is called Clofenac 50mg (diclofenac sodium tablet). I stopped taking the painkillers because the three tablets I took accordingly did nothing at all.

Vagus: maybe all I need is some lovin’ *hint hint*

  24. Vagus, 22. December 2005, 9:05

that antibiotic should do the job. diclofenac is an antiinflammatory, works but not too well for bad pain.
not sure why he gave you fexofenadine. it’s an allergy medication.
hope you feel better. plenty of lovin’ from here. wait for me Feb ar. hahaha.

  25. Dabido(Teflon), 22. December 2005, 11:53

Vagus - because the Doctor was taking all over bets. Enhancin (Penicillin/Clavulanic acid mix) Anti-biotic for Bacterial problem - Fexofenadine (Histamine receptor) for allergic reaction, and if it was Viral, then the pain killer and fluids are all you can take.

So What I wrote before, about the possibility of it being Viral, Bacterial or Allergic … well, the Doctors covered all three bases.
