as good as it gets

getting older There are some things in life that you just can’t run and hide from, one of which is getting older simply because… well one is just too old to run. Undoubtedly most of you would remark, “no you are not old, you are still so young etc”. But I can tell you this much — my youth deserted me over the weekend.

Hence the Salonpas pain relieving patch thingy on my arm. I don’t do sports, I don’t run, I don’t have hardcore sex, I don’t do a Yehudi Menuhin on my Stradivarius down South; the ache just quietly crept in. The patch thing works so good that I now have some over my back and neck, and I shall go buy some more.

Yes it is a mid twenties life crisis sort of thing.

Last Saturday I attended a colleague’s wedding dinner at the Ah Yat Abalone Forum Restaurant, located at Jln. Pudu opposite the Tung Shin hospital. Post-beer, of course.

Anyway I almost skipped it because I wasn’t really feeling up to it (refer to patch thing on arm photo above). Jaime said that I had to attend, because there would be abalone which is of course a Chinese delicacy; an abalone dish at a wedding dinner is some sort of a status reflection — “WE ARE RICH WE ARE RICH WE ARE RICH!!!” That was my impression growing up anyway.

The dinner was good, more to do with friends and colleagues I’ve known for years. Okay one last thing on abalone — I don’t understand why it’s a delicacy; it tastes rubbery, it tak serap rasa, it’s not economically feasible and one tiny serving of it doesn’t exactly leaves me hankering for more.

/end absurd traditional Chinese notions of good food rant

But I’ll show you a photo of it anyway, along with some other stuff I ate yesterday.

There, the abalone with mushrooms on top left. Okay, it looks good I admit, but we all know that looks can be very deceiving. Or maybe what I’m trying to say very inarticulately is that it doesn’t taste as good as it should with how it looks. Ahah!

And next to it was Sunday lunch. KY blogged about it here. One fish for one person, yay so happy!

And I had coconut water and maybe 18 hours later, a small cake bought from Cold Storage. Part of their Xmas cake sale thingy. Cake is always good.

Here are some random people.

And here’s a backdated photo of when we were at Thai Club, when I was feeling more springy than I am now.

And here’s a Suanie.net fan spelling my name with her lithe youthful body.

Suanie's fan club, lmao

Bwahahahahahaha so on! Thanks Joel :D

And this is HB on the front page of Metro Ahad, 27 Nov 2005. The smudge bit on the top right was because I don’t really want to see dead bodies on Monday morning.

Like we do not have a bigger problem at the moment, eh? Hello? Cops? Corruption? Stripping? Ear squats? More Chinese nationals lodging police reports about being mistreated when they were here in Malaysia?

Priorities I tell ya.

Which led me to thinking; even NST has gone tabloid-size. Who is gonna be respectable now?

Malaysia, this is as good as it gets. Sorry about being cranky and pessimist and all that. It’s the strained muscles, I swear.

Assorted Blah
