the best well kept secret in the blogosphere

Japan is pretty much a trendsetter when it comes to novelty things and people, and things that people do. Just when you thought that you’d seen/read/heard it all, a new fad would burst like plum blossoms in spring, mortifyingly humbling our jaded cynical selves into shocked silent puppies.

I would like to shock you myself, so ladies and gentlemen, I proudly present the BEST well kept secret in the blogosphere. Ready? Here you go…

Joi Ito is a woman.

Joi Ito is a woman.

JOI ITO IS A WOMAN!!!

That’s right. All of us have been duped, the blind bats that we all are. You’ve got to admit; a Japanese man wearing a robe - that’s not culture; THAT’S NOT A MAN AT ALL!

10 Most Powerful Women in Blogging

[...]
8. Joi Ito of Technorati (http://joi.ito.com ) has her hands in a lot of Web 2.0 companies, some you might not even know about yet. This makes her damn powerful. Often times the one you don’t know that well is the most powerful. My personal favorite because she seems to help people get shit done.

I was studying Immunological Hypersensitivity when I was blogging that. I swear to God, I was more facinated in Xiaxue being in there than Joi Ito being a man.

Does this mean Xiaxie might be a man too?

“Sorry about having a ambiguous name, but I’m not a woman. I’ve been mistaken for a women by various bloggers, but this is the first time I’ve made it on a 10 most XYZ Women in ABC list. ;-P”

    got it off here

The FUNNY 10 Most Powerful Women in Blogging

liberalcowboy made a list of 10 most powerful women in blogging, but it turned up to become a joke. He mistakenly assumed Joi Ito is a woman!

    ahaha…she sarcastic ar? didn’t get it. paiseh…

guess sarcasm is only most effective when spoken

  11. Erna, 13. November 2005, 14:35

Joel: Sarcasm is only most effective when spoken?

Right. What do you call it when everybody gets a joke but one person doesn’t? Does it mean the joke isn’t funny?

Since you’re immune to written sarcasm, my entire comment is drippin with it. Just so you know.

  12. eyeris, 13. November 2005, 14:39

WRITTEN sarcasm is the highest form of sarcasm, actually.

  13. j o e l, 13. November 2005, 16:33

erna: sorry if i offended you… but i bet you’re one of those people who can’t wait for people to screw up so that you can verbally blast them back to the stone age.

  14. lionel, 13. November 2005, 18:01

I always thought of Joi as a guy. And long before I met a Zimbabweian dude of that name recently.

  15. Erna, 14. November 2005, 13:45

Joel: Aww, poor baby. He takes it personal, is it? *pats* *pats some more*

It’s not about your screwing up. If you didn’t get the post, you could have laughed and admitted you didn’t get it. Instead, you dissed ‘written sarcasm’.

Verbally blast people who made mistakes? Haha…isn’t that what you were trying to do when you tried to enlighten poor, misguided Suanie about her mistaken belief?

And by the way, Joi Ito isn’t a woman but a transsexual mongoose.

  16. Suanie, 14. November 2005, 18:21

“And by the way, Joi Ito isn’t a woman but a transsexual mongoose.”

shock shock horror horror shock shock horror
