straight out of klia, babeh
As a teen I semi-worshipped Fly Guy of the Lil’ Kev & Fly Guy Hitz fm morning show. He was smart, witty and ever so sarcastic even especially at the crack of dawn. I listened to their show a lot and faithfully bought a magazine (whose name I forgot now) every month because they gave Fly Guy a column. I wrote to him at that mag asking him how to be a radio DJ (one of my now-never-to-be-fulfilled childhood dreams, if you’d talked to me before you’d understand why) and he actually answered my letter the following month in his column… BOY CAN YOU IMAGINE MY EXCITEMENT AT THAT TIME!!!
Then I called him one early morning when he was hosting the show alone, he remembered my name, we chatted for a bit (more like he layaned me a bit) and that was that. When he and Lil’ Kev left Hitz FM, I was quite devastated. Not many DJs in Malaysia could match his singular style, though I did ‘discover’ Jeevan (Red 104.9 fm, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm ) much later but that’s another story.
But Fly Guy is BACK! YAY the JOY, the DELIGHT, the BLESSINGS, the GLADNESS… yes I know how to use the thesaurus.
FLYfm broadcasts live from KLIA 24 hours a day (95.8 in Klang Valley) and Fly Guy is on from 6 am to 10 am, just like his old slot back at Hitz.
REJOICE Y’ALL!
And here’s a crappy MS Paint thingamajig as an almost-final tribute to my long time adoration for the satu dan satu sahaja Fly Guy.
I love you long time!!!

So you usually don’t sleep till like 10am?
I do think that Jeevan is one of the best DJ on the air right now. Actually he’s the only DJ I can tolerate on Red FM. I love them! But their DJs……please improve a bit la.
89.9 in Penang!
yippie… my era la not your era… anyway… setting the radio now….
If I am not mistaken, I read in the papers that Lil Kev sued a radio station over some terms of employment or something like that. Dunno what happened later.
My good friend Selma used to be a DJ on Red FM 2 years ago before she move to ozzie. She did the morning show with another guy - are any of you guys familiar with the show?
A Red FM DJ was at that other ‘noisy’ table when we makan at Chilli’s.
But OMIGOD, I love Fly Guy. The first day his station came on air, my ofis was playing him three days straight - until the Deputy Editor got sick of it. Heh. I was once less than two metres from him when he was hosting some event. SWOOOON. So comel. But shortlah, haha.
I used to be a fan of Fly Guy from his time at Time Highway Radio 99.3 FM (now a primarily Tamil station called THR Raaga). I’d dare say those were probably his bestest, craziest time before he left for Hitz.
That’s ‘Fly Guy’?????? Jeeeeezzzzz… what’s in a name. - Nic
I met him before, I think 5 years back, he is totally different from his radio DJ persona, he was this shy and kind guy, smiling all the time, very happy to be around me and my girlfriends, making small conversation, took a picture with us then he went and called his wife/gf from the telephone booth???! If I do recall correctly I think he is ‘cock-eye’
Finally, something funny on morning radio! Like Sashi, I too liked Flyguy from his THR days even though in the early days he sounded a little like an Adrian Cronauer ripoff.
Isn’t he married?
So are you gonna be 1st mistress?
me crazy of Angie of radio 4 those days. She on air midnight till 6am.I think i not the only one crazy of her.Wonder where is she now?
KY: I was in high school then, we had to wake up like damn early to go to school? So I had an hour or so to listen to their show.
Z: Do you know where is he btw? I don’t hear him on his slot anymore?
n305er: so pandai!
LT: share era kenot meh
viewtru: I think both of them left because of disgreements with the big A. Not sure how it turned out.
Shan: nope, I only started listening to Red a year ago.
Erna: eh how come you never tell at that time?!? Short kah? sien but comel enough lahh
Sashi: I never heard his show at THR but lots of people (like you) said it was real good.
Nic: why not? it’s teh cool
matakecik: he looks a bit ma jiu pak chiam also .. but SO KIUT!!!
ThatJames: he hosts with a couple other people, they are not bad also
Vagus: can I be your first wife?
Swee: I’ve not heard of her .. I grew up listening to Singapore radio stations, missed out a lot on home grown stuff
Haha. I’m wide open for applicants Suanie. Send your CV over. I even have my dowry ready for your parents.
Suanie, FLYfm is giving you double happiness now.
You get Flyguy in the morning and jeevan in the evening!

Hi, since you are obviously a fan of the fly guy, any idea what happened to him? He suddenly dropped out of fly fm, to be replaced by — let’s face it — two purveyors of puerile humour.
joe: no idea, sorry… i don’t listen to flyfm so much anymore now that’s he’s not there, occasionally i check to see if he’s around, but kena disappointed lah!
me too! So disappointed. The drive to work is just not the same, so much so that I don’t even listen to the radio anymore…
Fly Guy has “flown” away. Perhaps to greener pastures or maybe not so green ones. But who cares, I listen to radio for the music and if the DJ annoys me, I just switch stations. My fave is Litefm. Life goes on people(with or without flyguy)
Fly has gone to England cos his wife got a job there. So he’s either 1. Setting her up nicely or 2. Living off the wife. I agree with Keith. Litefm is the way to go.
