for what it’s worth..i get my tau fu pok from the korean store and it’s called deep fried beancurd.

and i get belacan from the vietnamese store…it comes in a little bottle, is all mashed up and looks absolutely nasty but take a whiff of it and damn, you /know/ you have belacan.

lol.

the right kind just to piss off the neighbors too!

it’s made by lee kum kee and is called ’shrimp sauce’

and if all else fails and you’re looking for that one ingredient that is so crucial…

hand gestures, lots of facial expression, rough drawings, what it tastes, smells, and looks like helps.

really.
