Ted: heh well, there you go

Mercurial: Actually I did that once... not to a kid but to a baby in the tummy who was kicking the mummy so much... I just went "I AM YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE". Kicking stopped, end of story.

I hear ya on the rugrat thing. Ontario ruled that pubs that serve food (which is all of them - mandated by law) are in fact not bars, but restaurants. Therefore, they must allow children into the place.

There is nothing that drives me around the bend more than when I'm pop into the pub to have a nice relaxing beer/meal and people have their rugrats running amok. Even if they aren't screaming, they're disruptive and get on my nerves.

I've seen this sorta thing abused - there's one "mother" (we jokingly call her "Trailer Park Barbie") that'll bring her 7 year old daughter to the pub when she can't find a baby sitter so that she can get stinkoed (the only time she's sober is if she's out with her parents).

My point of view on kids in restaurants/bars - either tranquilize the little mofos before you go out or get a sitter and leave them at home!

jaggedthots: do better than.... oh you know.. bleh!
anzi: muaks
artreyu: "owner of these things" LMAO!
Szue Fei: Hello!

Of course there is a difference. It is easy to just blame every modern parent for churning out irresponsible uncivic minded kids but there are parents who are trying and I, being a single person with no kids really do appreciate it. And it encourages me in the sense that *if* one day I should have a kid, I could follow the foot steps of those who do try and give a damn instead of the example illustrated above. There is a choice. Of course it is not easy - no one said parenting is easy. But I believe that if I made the choice to have a kid, it is darn well my responsibility to guide the child and be a responsible parent.

But that option is still so far away lah :)

I used to be like you, easily annoyed by rascals and wonder why parents can't control their kids. But now that I am a parent myself, it isn't as easy as people think.

My husband and I try very to keep our daughter at bay and so far, she has been quite alright (we hope). There is a difference between parents who care and parents who don't give a shit about how their children behave in public and I am sure as hell am a parent who cares!

So, relax and don't be too hard on them.

elloo,

i can really understand how you feel. i myself personally have to, albiet forcefully, experience it. what amazes me is that the owners of these things (the kids la) are able to totally ignore whatever mayhem these kids make. i mean, they can be chatting happily with each other while a kid of theirs scream at the top of its lung. sigh...should put those parents in front of the firing squad.

reallybites: true true...
Peter: can't help it... read my earlier post :P
pam: Hello! I totally blame the parents too... actually kids are prone to doing that... yelling screaming when they don't get something, I don't mind coz every kid goes through that.. but I would absolutely HATE IT if the parent go and molly coddle the kids and end up buying the kid whatever s/he wants...
MorpheusX: yah but they are not my kids... I believe parents should be responsible for parenting
bruckz: but don't we wish we could take a mallet to them? *grins*
jaggedthots: oO congratulations! I trust you would do better :P
ItchyMicchi: I don't know the name of the place, it's the same row as the Maybank, 2nd and 3rd floors. Can't trip them lah... sekali kena sued...
KY: relax lah
S: yah man.. too much TV is killing our kids.. all that MTV culture and shit
ahseng: hoho! I sked of you
n305er: ... you being sarcastic issit ish.... *smacks*
Pok Ku: hahahaha you lagi evil! salut!
Michael: ... paste my ward-off-evil photo enough ledi
Pinky: I don't have the guts to do that lor.. but my eldest sister would.. she damn garang hehe
FA: oO
minishorts: lucky my mom never did that... I would be scarred for life
lucia: Of course everything is easier said than done. But there should be levels of control. I just thought it was very unfair that I had to subjected to such unpleasantries while having dinner with the kids thumping the wooden floor which my mom, sis and I were sitting on and the parents not attempting to do anything about it. They are kids, sure but it's damn well rude. How can that be ok? Nobody is that cute.

I don't mind kids running around. You see them at wedding dinners chasing each other etc I don't mind that. It's kids' nature. But other times as a parent you would have to think of the consequences. Not everybody likes kids. Some people like kids so much they would run off with your kid. Then when the parent has finished gossiping with the friend and couldn't locate the kid, whose fault is it? I don't blame the kid at all.

I am just saying that a lot of people these days do not take parenting seriously. They might be trying, but they do not try hard enough, letting the kids have their own way all the time. I've seen a lot of well behaved kids in public so I know there are parents who could do it.
ShaolinTiger: Not bad, we go next time. Ampang too far away and I heard the meat was much reduced in size.
Shan: Heh I have 2 elder sisters for that, they used to slap me all the time :P
