I don’t understand why people who want to be taken as seriously as they claim would not attempt to look at both sides of the story and perhaps find some good light in it.
I don’t understand why people need a conspiracy to satisfy their personal belief that we are always headed for the worst.
I don’t understand why people have to be punished for being happy or lucky.
I don’t understand why our average normal lives are not enough.
I don’t understand why people think other people believe everything that is written.
I don’t understand why propagators of individualism and free speech look down on those who are trying to do the same.
Isn’t that one of the purposes, to get people to freely speak their minds?
Isn’t that one of the purposes, to guide people to think for themselves?
Isn’t that one of the purposes, to help us grow to become more mature, responsible and accountable?
Isn’t that one of the purposes, to promote awareness?
So if it’s personal, does it mean that it is meant to be taken as lightly as possible?
So if it’s personal, does it mean that we do not have opinions on things that matter to us?
So if it’s personal, does it mean that our views and thoughts are next to nothing?
So if it’s personal, does it mean that we have nothing to do with our lives and dwell only within our self-made worlds of fantasies?
At the end of the day, something I wrote strikes a chord with someone, and that is why he or she reads on.
At the end of the day, if you only know one language you are preaching to the converted. Similarly the ’serious’ and the ‘light-hearted’ may write on the same issue, only handed out in different styles.
At the end of the day, it seems as if we were not one of ‘them’ who think the same way, we are automatically outcasts even though we have valid opinions about it.
At the end of the day, who are we trying to kid? Who are you trying to kid?

That’s the price of freedom I guess. The fact that as long as you have the freedom of speech, you also have the preedom for people to retort to your speech.
Then again, it doesn’t really matter. Because as long as everyone practices it in the end…think about it. If they disagree…you still have the freedom to keep saying what you want to say and even they can’t stop you.

The starbucks’ affogato is like the diet coke of coke; not quite the real thing. The thing is that starbucks doesn’t have a liquor license, so their affogato is missing a key ingredient – dark rum.

Regarding increasing of population :

Actually one of the aspects of Buddhism I like is that it teaches you to think for yourself and not to take things at face value. In Buddhism, the human factor is very important – more so important than Buddhas or bodhisattvas or your tuah pek kong. So the basic logic of 1+1 = 2, then multiply multiply multiply… wouldn’t that explain the rise of population? Also because of lack of condoms.
The Buddha said before that there are many other worlds and universe and realms different than ours… think of them as 3rd, 4th, 5th etc dimensions.
Actually I rather like the concept of the present Heaven and Hell. *shrugs*
You also do not need a religion tagged on you to be categorised as a ‘good’ or ‘bad’ person. You don’t need to be a Buddhist or a Christian or a Muslim or a Hindu to try to do good or avoid doing evil.

Oh and I just remembered something. Even I’m an atheist, my family member are buddhist, espeacially my mom. I recall her saying that monks know when they’ll die. She has a VCD that shows a man who prepare his funerel since he knows when he’s going to die with 1000+ people attending the funeral. He died on time just like he said and according to my mom, 1000+ people there “saw” buddha come to “take” that man away. Any prove on this?

I will reply this one as well. Siddharta explained that in rebirth, it is the sankaras(mental reactions) from a departed person that get grabbed by a newly born baby. So when a baby is born, it already has these reactions inherited from a former dead guy. But is the baby a new person, or the old one? Buddha never did believe in the concept of ’soul’. I don’t think he ever did mention that the sankaras were passed on as a on-to-one basis. Meaning one person dies and one new baby is born. If that is true, populations will never increase. I do not know what the truth is. But Buddhas come and go through the ages. Siddharta was the most famous Buddha because he put down his discourses in writing. But I don’t think two Buddhas can have exact identical views of life. Our human purpose is to take care of this life. The next life, if there is one, can take care of itself.
