jumping onto blogexplosion

If you have no idea what BlogExplosion is, ST wrote a very nice lowdown here.

I am pretty much addicted - as ST said you would have to wade through the eye-rolling ones to get to the few good ones.

But that’s not my point.

I came across a few blogs whining about why people don’t stay for more than 30 seconds (the minimum time to browse a blog), why they just come and leave, why can’t they rate or comment, look through their photo galleries and comment there, bla bla blaSTFU blaU blaIrritating blaN00bs bla bla.

Here are reasons why I don’t stay for more 30 seconds - random numbers have never looked so inviting.

1. Your site sucks

That pretty much sums it up. Bad layout, bad content, terrible whining. If you can’t produce worthy content then your blog would be restricted to people whom you actually know in real life. I am a stranger, sorry but I don’t really want to know what you had for lunch today unless it involves an unusual incident, a photo or observations. And not observations on why Harry the Takeaway gave you one less slice of chicken in your sandwich today.

2. Your site sucks

Look, I am a very tolerant radical Buddhist and I admire your strong faith in your religion but I really REALLY really do not want to read poems dedicated to various gods. Nor hallmarks of adoration. Nor blatant outright words of love for your all mighty up there. Unless you can come up with more than one post as to why creation and evolution could be one and the same (I’m thinking of Dan Browns Angels & Demons here, I don’t idolise the guy but.. wtf… read it if you want) then it’s just an antagonising wait for the 30th second mark.

My kind advise and recommendation is, there should be balance in everything.

3. Your site sucks

FFS take off the awful jingling audio that you force everyone to listen to.

4. Your site sucks

That’s right. Why? It all boils down to content milove. If you present a point and you don’t back it up with your own arguments, thoughts and opinions, why on earth would I want to read it when I can very easily google for it? Ten posts with barely 10 lines in each hardly makes them read-able.

5. Your site sucks

If everyone leaves after 30 seconds, no arguments there.

My very honest opinion is, if you feel that you have undeservedly gained bad ratings, bad comments, no comments, no blogmarks, then it’s high time you do something about your content.

Or decide that they are all morons who do not have the good taste to appreciate your blog, don’t give a fuck about these low-class morons and cease whining.

But here are some of my ever-expanding blogmarks, shows that there are some good ones out there and I am going to tell you why.

The Cotas - He’s got kids and has actually stuff to say.

Afropuffs - Jamaican chick studying for her PhD in Food Science and Nutrition in America, it doesn’t get any better than that. Check out her post on What Are You Really Eating?

Jettstream - Again, someone with something to say and it’s not about kittens.

Viva la Blog - God gave him a mind so he’s using it. Very well.

The Church of Dysfunction - hark now hear the helpdesk technician speaks.

And someone on BlogExplosion linked to a guy named Joe, a homosexual with a flair for the written words.

Quality from quantity. There you go.

You *can* turn off blogs that depend too much on MIDI files or whatever. I had to do that after I kept getting this one site that was playing the same bad song over and over. :P
